  • KUMAKUBO's New D1 Car! (Subaru Impreza)

    By D1 Productions,

The rumors circling around the drifting community has finally settled. Nobushige Kumakubo, a top D1 contender whose presence is essential to the D1 circuit, has done the impossible. Breaking the habit of the traditional platforms that are seldom utilized for drifting, a front engine mount rear wheel drive Subaru Impreza was confirmed to be his next vehicle of choice.

The 2.5 liter EJ25 is expected to be built to Tsukuba circuit specs, according to JUN auto mechanic. Although JUN primarily specializes in other forms of racing besides drifting, Kumakubo is confident that he can adapt to any form of tuned vehicle. With a vehicle built by one of Japan's best tuners, combined with his unmatched drifting skill, Kuma is determined to keep his rank at its peak. Now the real question is: Will the car be orange?

theres some pics of it in the layout of his car in the september 2004 issue of option magazine, and yes it will be orange with a painted black top from what i can tell, it will also have a vented cf hood(front mount ic) also, yukes media productions (ueo's sponsor) will be sponsoring it as well, the layout looks tight. i wish i had a scanner so i can post it, but ill try to see what i can do to get pics up

Hell yeah!! I love to see uncommon cars being run in D1. Congrats to Kuma for picking up a sweet ride. And having JUN build the car surely can't hurt anything.

the rear door scoops feed to a rear mounted radiator in the trunk, and the mesh in the trunk is where the ducting goes after the radiator.
