Yea, I've always wanted to touge or drift those roads....Or just get freaked out and drive like a grandma on them.

sobe
01-10-2004, 07:25 PM
dont worry panda, the only people in GA who drift dont live near here, and its just me near that mountain..and my friends like drifting so i guess we're the only ones to be up around there...cops dont know drifting yet, and i hope they wont for awhile...im not advertising anything remotely close to drifting other than this thread

..if ricers like my car fine...if they want to know more about it sure..if they want to know what i do with it, i'll tell them, if they want to know where i drift...to bad..

Those are some nice roads. I wouldn't mind hitting them myself.
We have some really kick a$$ twisties out here. I'll try and get some pics for you guys.

Actually, we should have a sticky post of US passes. No names, no directions....just pics to make each other drool.

What they need to do is announce to meet up somewhere, high tail it out, then get on cell phones and meet someplace else. The ricers get to the announced place and see no action. I hate ricers.

Watch resident evil enough?

Most ghosts I have heard about don't talk.

And I was joking about the ghosts. Kennesaw Mountain was where a crazy battle of the civil war took place. The rebels had to lug cannons up it, thats crazy.

I have differnt Beleifs then you buddy, If you knew what I'm talking about you wouldnt joke around either. Ghosts and Dreams are very serious stuff...nothing to call a joke. Resdient Evil is GGGAAAAYYY... I didnt mean talk to you... but I know people who've seen ghosts then weeks later people close to them die...

1) You dont know what beliefs I have.
2) I was playing around with the resident evil remark.
3) And I know stuff like that happens.

Lets keep this thread about Kennesaw Mountain and its roads.

Hey, I just came across this site, and thought I'd say hey. I'm from Smyrna, and have been up to Kennesaw Mtn many times. In fact, I have drifted up and down those roads 100's of times in a miata and in an rx-7. My favorite is the actual mountain...it's a sweet downhill run!

Those roads are great, but being in a state park, they're are a bunch of park cops and cobb co. police :(

Ahh... the memories, but now here on the gulf coast, there's no curvy roads :(

Btw- That first pic is the covered bridge in Smyrna, isn't it?

New to this board, not to drifting,

Werd

But I like the roads up in North Georgia better. Either up 19/400 past Dahlonaga or 23 towards Rabun or even 411 up to 64 on the TN/NC/GA border.

I'll be coming to Petit Lemans this fall, and I'd can't wait to drive these roads again! :D

and finally this.

These road photo's show nothing of the 180 hairpins, switchbacks and changeovers. The Dragon is a dangerous place. Throw in the motorcycles, car's that can't stay in their lanes and the hunters, campers and travellers, not to mention the locqal wildlife, and you got one hell of a ride. This is a great time of year to pay a visit to it. It is one you will not forget.

Ah the Dragon...memories.

I can't decide which vehicle I like better at Deal's Gap

My motorcycle is faster, but a lot more physically demanding and much easier to drift.

My car feels safer and is doesn't need to be trailered to get there.

I can't wait to get back to the Dragon this year. I'll be practicing at Tuggle's Gap this spring to get out the winter cobwebs. I was up at Tuggles Gap several weeks ago in my car doing about 80mph down a short straight away and swerved to miss a fox. 4 fishtails later I was sideways in somebody's driveway with a bent tierod and a broken bumper. Still hit the fox. Stupid wildlife.

Nah Sobe, i'm in Knoxville but I got a cabin 2 miles above Tallulah gorge. That's where they filmed Deliverance :D. It makes a great staging point for mountain runs and maybe a good place for us to have a picnic in the spring. I got bout 4 acres of riverfront with my dad. Big screen, bar-b-cue pits and swimming or fishing. It's awesome. The roads a little so so to get there but it's only 50 yards long and my FD made it down and up and it is slammed.

Drift 16, you must not live around here but the Dragon is like the THE most worked over spot iin the southeast. EVERYONE already know's that spot. That is why it is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo dangerous to drift there or even run there. I think it would be nigh impossible to drift there except in a few turns. It's just that tight. Plus there are changeovers up there what will compress your suspension to the point of bottoming out and while in a turn too. For bikes it is great, for car's it get's alot trickier. Add to that the bikes that fly up and down there, the traveller's, the cops (next to none this time a year) but they are hell bent for leather up there in the sumer months and you get one W I L D ride man. The Dragon can be something out of a dream or something straight out of a nightmare. Can go either way. It's so popular that clubs hold track day's there and it's advertised in the paper for gods sake.

Rooney
01-14-2004, 04:01 PM
Do the car clubs just run the road, like, just drive down it. or do they like drift it or what?

When I used to hike the Appalachian Trail, you could just hear the bikes flying by - and at the spots that were near the road...
you could see the jacked up trees from cars wrecking!

I agree with Deal's Gap it's awesome, but some parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway are totally awesome, including switchbacks, and TIGHT 180deg. hairpins. I'd really like to drive that again!

Ghost of Duluth
01-17-2004, 01:58 AM
Yea I have to say that I doubt you can drift the Dragon. WAAAAAAY too dangerous. The road is way too thin and the turns too tight for that. Late at night, yea, with friends to keep corner check is about the only way to do it.

It's insane up there. Especially in the summer.

I went up to Deal's Gap for the first time last fall, and I love it there. It's so much fun to push hard there. Haven't drifted there yet though.

Kennessaw is like an hour north of ATL right?

sode that awsome I live near kennsaw. And I wouldn't mind seeing some action. Cop are strict in Peach Tree City so drifting there is nogood. Anyway I think I would be cool to make a GA drift vid. Ptc makes up for 90% of the rice in Ga.
