  • drifting: market research help

In a marketing course at school we have to come up with a marketing plan for a company or industry that interests me....so I decided to do mine on a drift/car show event....it'll help me get an idea how the business side of these events are run as well.

for example: http://www.godrift.org/index.php?channel=join basic stuff that may be found at such a website

I need is info on: market research data, marketing services, or any other marketing related information available.

or if anyone has or knows where i could find such market research data....any other websites or publications, that would be a great help as well. I have found some good articles through SEMA about the growing drift market but no real numbers. I was able to find more than enough info on the sport compact industry but not too much on drifting. So any help would be great....I still got a couple weeks to finish this...so plenty of time.

post here or pm me if you have any helpful info.

    thanks.

here are some links of readily available marketing data, reports and articles

    http://www.sema.org/downloads/?id=31530
    http://www.sema.org/content/?id=31263
    http://www.sema.org/content/?id=31053

    some info on drifting market:
    http://www.sema.org/downloads/?id=32178
    http://www.club4ag.com/DriftDAY/Past%20events.htm

plus other articles i have from magazines, surveys, etc

I've also been in contact with other companies...such as the marketing firm that deals with FormulaD events and they said they'd be happy to answer my questions on the info i want, they just can't give me trade secrets that are valuable to their firm of course.....i've also contacted other organizations that market drift events...just waiting for replies, they obviously aren't going to make me a first priority so i can wait patiently.

DUDE check with Mike Myers at Nopi he might help as far as SEMA they dont have a clue. The president and a few others came to Japan in Jan. we went out to check out the seen for there market help to US manufactures. They still didnt quite grasp the concept I dont think. I also addresed the SCC at SEMA last year and drift was way over everybodys head. I spent like 45 mins giving background and event info but the room was still like WTF. Maybe at the IAS it will get a little beter respons from the members. I do know that during the night event we had at SEMA the people that were present were figuring it out that this will probobly surpass sport compact drags.
