  • Any Escort Cosworth fans in here?

Anybody else in here love the Cossie (RS200, Sierra Cosworth, Escort Cosworth, etc) ? I first learned about 'em when espn first showed rally in the us and being a dyed-in-the-wool blue oval fan I've been in love with 'em ever since, and the RS200 is one of my dream rides.

Hell ya!!!! My favorite rally cars are the Ford RS200, Ford Escort Cosworth, Ford Puma, Ford Ka, Subbie WRX, Renault R5, and the Nissan Micra. I had a 1990 Ford Escort and it was FWD, but with mods it could have been a good rally car. But I couldn't pass up a 1st gen Rx-7. Never seen a Nissan Micra in anything except RalliSport Challenge for Xbox, but it's one hella sweet car.

I first saw one in the Getaway from Stockholm videos (number two). I dont follow rally, so it was the first time I had ever seen the Escort Cosworth. I've been a fan of those cars ever since. At one point I even considered swapping the Cosworth engine into a Mustang. It was the SVO with the 2.3T setup. Esslinger makes parts for both engines, so thats how I got the idea. I ended up giving the car to my Uncle since he helped me fix up my house and the idea never became a reality. He's giving it alot of TLC so I'm happy with how it turned out. I had other projects going and it never got the love it deserved. He said I could sample it at the drift session if I ever wanted to ... yehaw!

          here's a useless fact

          190 E 2.3 16V and 2.5 16V Cosworth

In 1979 Mercedes Benz had decided to taking part in motor sport again, this time Mercedes wanted to go rally racing. They needed to get the most out of there little engine and car so that it would be able to compete against the more established names so they turned to Cosworth Engineering. Cosworth came up with a 2.3 litre 16 valve engine and in 1983 the 2.3 16V was launched. The original car produced 177 bhp which was 55 bhp more then the standard car. The top speed of this car was 141 mph, the car came as a rear wheel drive. The plans for rally racing were abandoned by Mercedes as four wheel drive was the norm now. In 1988 the 2.5 litre version was launched costing £38, 272. Although Mercedes did not take part in rally racing they did enter the cars in DTM racing which is the German equivalent to the British touring cars, the cars were entered under the AMG name of Mercedes who now controlled the engineering of the 190 E 2.5 16V. In total the 190 E won 50 races in DTM racing and with this winning numerous DTM titles. The 190 E was designed to increase sales with a small car without compromising quality or image of the Mercedes Benz brand. The 190 E was a very successful car. Mercedes also developed limited edition homologated version of the 2. 5 16V, it was known as the Evo 2. Mercedes only made 502 Evo 2. The main difference between the standard Cosworth 2. 5 model and the Evo 2 is the flared wheel arches and huge rear spoiler.

The Euro Ford stuff RULES (Check my Av.). Because of my love for them I have owned 3 of the Merkur XR4Ti we got over here. Same as a Sierra but with a 2.3 turbo in it. All the suspension, interior, EVERYTHING is the same. The dash is actually the same as the Sierra, the RS200 and the early Escorts.

Here in Finland we have plenty of Cossies. Both Sierras and Escorts.

One of my "got to have someday" vehicles is Escort Coswort. I now have Escort RS2000 (150bhp FWD) and just love the looks (check my sig). Too bad that it hasn't enough power so I'm now selling it and trying to have some drift machine to replace that with

Here's one killer look cossie from Sweden, it has over 550bhp: http://www.bytbil.com/images/neadfou...CA738-1001.jpg

                That's for sale too, for 30000 euros (= 38000usd)

I believe the Cosworth your talking about was the black one in Getaway in Stockholm 2.I know it was pushing in that hp,the car was a beast. It's a shame it was never built on these shores, would have been a great car.Almost all good Fords are exclusive to Europe, and Ford is American(they jip their own country).

Wasnt the rs200 fastest car built by ford? They made like 100 units i think, all for the rally championship. That car looked beautiful. Please post pics of em so we can all share em
