    Update: June 23, 2007 - 4:10PM(PST)

The sun is shining and it is HOT! The asphalt surface is very slippery when its hot, and the overpasses above the track are putting shade on some sections of the course, making those areas sticky. Additionally, there are some pretty big bumps right in front of the grand stands, making this one of the trickier tracks we've seen this year. So far, the track has eaten 2 cars (Andrew fernandez in the vqswap.com S13 and colin frost in the shiftlock.net S13). Andrew was transported to a local hospitol to get checked out, but his initial check-up on track was positive. Harry Tervola also hit the wall pretty hard in his BMW 5 series, bending a rear control arm, but his team has found replacement parts at a local junkyard, and they plan to be back for qualifying.

In practice, Hubert Young was the first to link the whole track, but Forrest Wang and Bill Sherman both had several solid runs. Each driver has had around 9 or 10 practice runs, and some are catching on faster than others.

The crowd in Denver is going nuts so far, they are really loving the action! Qualifying will be nuts, we are getting into it shortly. This will be another great event!

After review, it was discovered that a computational error was made in calculating the Top 16 which affected the Top 16 drivers that we’re listed. The Top 11 drivers remained unchanged, but a few drivers in the lower half of the bracket have been adjusted.

            The new order: Top 16

            1.Bill Sherman
            2.Sammy Tiger
            3.Forrest Wang
            4.Hubert Young
            5.Harry Tervola
            6.Dan Willie
            7.Nate Brasz
            8.Blake Fuller
            9.Chris Milano
            10.Nick Hogan
            11.Lance Feliciano
            12.Channin P
            13.Ron Eworth
            14.Chelsea Denofa
            15.Pat Mordurant
            16.Gary Lang

The adjustment bumps Stewart Leask and Jon Martin from top 16.

            Tandem starts in 20 minutes.

i actually highly respect the fact they immediately righted a wrong. looks really clusterfkucish having a scoring error, but they did the right thing about it, and nobodys perfect, so hats off to them.

Agreed. At least they admitted it and apologized.

The errors was in the software which was used to compute the scores. It added 10 points to a few drivers, and neglected 10 points for a few other drivers. The scores never changed, it was just the tabulation which was in error. Future qualifying results will be double checked the old fashioned way - by hand, with a calculator.

Overall, the event was pretty good. The track was rough, but sometimes that's the way things go. Congrats to Bill, Forrest, and Hubert, all had record finishes (Bill's first win at a pro drift event, Forrest's second podium at a pro drift event, Hubert's first podium at a pro drift event).

See you all later this week!
