I just wanna get the questions out my head instead of thinking about the answers. Sorry if these are n00b questions but people like me and other would like to know. Knowlegde is the key winning part of the strategy of drifting and understanding your car.

-What the hell is compression, bore, stroke and all that internal engine goodness that I keep on reading?
-What is a good suspension setup? I know that coilovers are preferred for most cars but is lowering the car to ground is good for drifting or raising it?
-Was there ever a car that had a turbocharger and a supercharger in it?
    -Zenki/kouki=trueno/levin???
-I do not know what (for example) a 2.0 liter engine or a 1.6 liter engine is, you know the liter part, what do they represent?
-Could someone please explain what is oversteering/understeering is? I have somewhat an idea of what it is but still at a lost
-Shifting weights in a car in a drift, how do they work and how is it done?

I know these are alot of questions to ask (for now BTW) and if I were to make a topic for each one it would of been a hell of alot topics (hehe) but if someone can help me, it would really help me understand alot of things I dont know and BTW try 2 keep this topic BUMP.

ok lemme try an answer a few ?'s...

    kouki/zenki are not = to levin/trueno
kouki/zenki are diff styles of the 240sx made by nissan
levin/trueno are 2 diff cars made by toyota

-Was there ever a car that had a turbocharger and a supercharger in it?
what kind of question is this? there are cars all over this world with turbo/superchargers in them. some come stock (from the factory) and some come aftermarket (when u buy from different companies after you buy the car)

compression, bore, stroke, i dont know enough myself to explain to someone else.

i dont know what a good suspension setup would be. you would have to ask someone with modified suspension.

i thought i knew what the liter stood for but as i say it outloud to myself it doesnt make sense...

oversteer is when you turn the wheel too much for how fast you are going and the back of the car slides out to the side usually resulting in a spinout if not corrected. understeer is when your wheels do not turn the car enough and you start to lose traction causing the car to go slightly forward instead of where you are pointing the wheels.

shifting weight in a car during a drift is done a number of ways:

tapping the brake to cause weight to shift forward off of the back wheels.

turning the streering wheel away from the curve of a corner and then back toward the corner to cause the weight shift.

well actually thats all i can think of.

if i am wrong about anything someone please correct me. i tried the best i can to explain what i knew.

Zenki and Kuki are older and newer model

llike with the S14 when they changed the head lights or with the FC3s when they redid the car with the round tail lights and other stuff...

      Zenki is the older style
Kuki is the newer style..(i home i got that right...it might be the other way round)

No car ever came with both a turbo and a super charger..but sume custom built set ups are out there....but i think its stupid..

compresion is stated in a ratio like 10 to 1 CR that being said its masured b the total volume of the cyl at BDC(bottom dead center) and devided by the volume at TDC(top dead center...so if the volume is ten time as great at BDC as at TDC then you have 10 to 1 compresion

Bore is the diamater of the cylander bore...ie how wide the piston bore is

stroke is what you do when your home alone with porn
Stroke is how far up and down the pistion moves... so bore x stroke x nuber of cyl = displacment

if you need any other info about motors...just ask

Well i guess i cant fault you for wanting to learn more. but it seems like a artical on automotive basics will really help. Anyways ill throw out a few answers for you. research them in more depth when you can.

First thing is Bore and Stroke. you know on second thought, read this.

        http://auto.howstuffworks.com/engine1.htm

it will be better then my tierd *Censored**Censored**Censored* explaining it.

this site will answer most of your basic question. it was like my bible 3 years ago when i didnt even know anything about cars. Go there and work your way up. has info on how the basic mechanics of a car works, eg. engine, brake, steering. and then it goes into more detail, explaining the combustion cycle etc.

as for chouki/zenki. its how the japanese establish different visual modifications on there cars refering to the model, it think it goes zenki, chouki, kouki. zenki being older, and kouki being newer.

levin/trueno, there the same car just different body design. Trueno has flip up, Levin has solid. same car. Not to be confused with the ae86 and ae85, which are completely different cars (chassis and engine wise) but same body design.

the 1.6 and 2.0 litre engine thing is pretty simple and youd probably laugh at the thought of it but, its the amount of displacement in the cars pistons. displacement being the amoust of fuel can fit into the total amount of pistons. not the amount of fuel the car can hold...

weight transfer is all phisics. braking will dip your cars weight forward, making the rear lighter, and easier to lose traction. essential to drifting

im guessing you recently got into cars? its cool if you are. learn as much as you can, and then just keep on learning.

            Not quite true.
Lancia 037 , last of the 2 wheel drive cars for World Rallying before they went to the Integrale.

Fairly specialised I do agree but in Japan they have the Subaru Vivio which is turbo and supercharged.
660cc 4wd pocket rocket and for the smart ones work out what the vivio stands for...

I will come back later with the answer

Any thanks for that howstuffworks website. I completly forgot about it and really helped me out. What Im having trouble is doing the heel/toe techinue, any suggestions???

yea, you know a 1 ltr bottle of sprite, well pretend that you had an engine, and you put the sprite into all the cylinders when they were all at the bottom of their stroke (hopefully it makes sense this far) well how many bottles will it take to fill all the cylinders when they're all at the bottom. It's kinda like that but a little more technical of course. They don't measure these things by filling their engines w/ soda. So a 1.6 ltr will take 1.6 bottles of sprite to fill all the cylinders. Anyone have a smarter way of putting it, I think I need to go back to the 9th grade.

What is a good suspension setup? I know that coilovers are preferred for most cars but is lowering the car to ground is good for drifting or raising it?

A lowered car lowers the center of gravity. Like if you sqat down it will be harder for someone to push you over than if you were standing up, it will be harder for the car to roll than if it was higher. Coilovers vs. springs is all in preference and what your car is for. If you wanna drift, coilovers are good but not necessary but they are adjustable and make it easy for you to make them suit your driving style. Spring/shocks are good too, but less adjustability usually and a softer spring which turns some people off.

another twin-charged vehicle (supercharged and turbocharged)
                    and there are advantages...
I think it helps eliminate turbo lag because the supercharger is boosting at any rpm, most importantly those before the turbo kicks in. The boost from the supercharger increases the amount of exhaust gasses at low rpm, therefore giving better turbo spool up. It also gives some power before the turbo activation, so there's a broader powerband. However, I don't see why this is useful on a stock street car because the tubo shouldn't be too big anyway. On a race car (I think there have been a few rally cars, like that Lancia) this would be useful for having big hp in a small engine while keeping good engine response. Maybe they do it in the Nissan I have linked above and the affor mentioned Subaru because they have small engines. With both a turbo and supercharger these engines may not feel so small because they have a powerband more similar to that of a larger car engine.

this is an rb26dett-r. search for 'ogura supercharger' they are positive displacement superchargers. it's stated that two of those superchargers were put on the rb26 making over 1400hp.

                        ya but that aint stock..
and if you look into it twin charging is pointless...it just looks and sounds cool..but for out and out preformance..its not worth the money

dori is short for dorifuto, which is how the japanese pronounce drift.

                              ....i think
