an escalade truck on 24's with hydro's, and like at least a half million tv's in it. i no longer use my head lights i just use that ambient glow from the tv's, and since its blue it gives a cool h.i.d. effect to my prexisting h.i.d's.

i would mock anyone who drove sutch a car.

a supra, but i plan on getting a 240 with a trunk and use that for the daly driver / drift-o madness matchine.

Hey... I'm Rudy.

I drive a Turbo Daewoo Lanos '00.

Gotta represent the KDM.... LOL just kiddin. Its kinda a crapbox but it gets the job done in the mountain. RSX Type-S, B16a Turbo Del Sol, WRX with tune, 25RS with tune, Integra Type R, 2nd Gen RX-7 Turbo II, FD, one Hachi... (all the others are damn good drivers):( Ummmm... the list is kinda long so Ill stop there. But yeah like I said it doesn't matter what you drive as long as your happy with it and can drive it well. So these are some of my bigger wins :D Anyways thats it.

Thankfully down here those stupid little scooters are illegal. Those things are damn annoying...riding around in the middle of the road like their cars and *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*. Or at night with no lights...I nearly hit a kit once cause of that.

Anyways I drive/drift a 91 Camaro...for now anyways building up another camaro on the side which is a 84...used to drift my camry...before I blew up the trans...and also a 84 Celica which can only be drifted in the mud, dirt, or rain O_o (105hp in a 2,700lbs car just dont work)

Not THAT underrated, though it still is at times:rolleyes:, and I wouldn't say it's "easily" tuneable to 700hp, actaully past 550hp is damn hard unless you have the time/patience/ and a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*load of cash. As for the weight, "THAT'S ONE BIG *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*!" not really, just pretty heavy though for a freaking sports car:p

heres my lovely ride. ok not quite. Its getting an LT1 w/ 6 speed soon, and later this lovely kit. It seems every v8 rx7 out there is owned by a hick who puts *Censored**Censored**Censored* muscle car wheels on it and trailers it to the drag strip. screw that. my 7'll stay as import as ever. just an american engine. cheaper than a turbo swap...

Dori Star
06-26-2003, 02:12 AM
nice, gp sports rx7, someone i knew had some kind of ties to that exact car...

josh18_2k
06-26-2003, 02:32 AM
GP seems to be the only decent kit i can find (in english web sites at least...) what is it with america's neglect of the FC? quite sad i'd say.

DriftGirl
06-26-2003, 06:20 AM
josh18_2k: I know nothing about the RX7 Line....tell me more about these conversions!!! Web links? engine pix???

josh18_2k
06-26-2003, 08:55 AM
with Granny's Speed Shop's conversion kits you can put just about any ford or chevy small block in any rx7.
http://members.tripod.com/~grannys/
I think i'm gonna do the LT1 w/ 6 speed combo (from mid 90's camaro) cause it's fuel injected (goody!), way cheaper than LS1 or LS6 (o god, now thats expensive!). the 6 speed cause its cool, geared perfect, and it fits the best of all trannys. shifter sits in the same place as stock! how nice.
now you got me all excited thinkin about it... damn. it really sucks sitting here in korea with no car. i cant wait to go home!!!
heres a page of some dude who did it already. his videos make his car look slow, but they say you can get 12's right outta the box (so to speak). enjoy!

josh18_2k
06-26-2003, 09:56 AM
i was totally excited when i first heard about the conversion. after some searcing i noticed something. seems that every v8 rx7 out there (or at least all the ones on the internet) are completely stock aside from the engine, or made super-*Censored**Censored**Censored* (raised with bullet wheels off some old mustang? what is that?). i have yet to find one with any real suspension mods, or even camber or that matter. v8 seems to be synonomous with drag racing. i might take it to the 1320 outta curiousity, but its purpose will still be cornering. i'd love to take it to a drift event. oh the look on their faces when i pop the hood...

traitor!

rotary vehicles should stay rotary...by sticking a big dumb american v8 (no offense crazy hawaiin) you will be effectively ruining the handing of the car-- rotary engine is small and compact which allows for low, behind the axle placement of the engine. To get a v8 to sit low and behind the axles to maintain the proper weight distribution, you'd have to spend a ton of money in fabrication. IE: Jim LaBreck

of course, my opinion is biased since I own a few rotary vehicles

No offense taken, I agree that a V8 in a RX7 messes up the weight distribution. The LS1 motor is a hefty 497.2 lbs. Though its also true you could do further mods to regain the proper weight distribution but it would be alot of work. But for daily street driving it shouldn't be a problem, the weight distribution becomes important when you roadrace (or drift). It would be a blast to drive around on the street. One of the guys in my car club is planning to do this swap. He's still trying to locate a good T56 tranny. His car is going to haul *Censored**Censored**Censored*!!

josh18_2k
06-28-2003, 12:56 AM
guess i better defend myself eh? ok here goes-
gxl's with the v8 swap only gain about 150lbs. the turboII actually loses a few pounds with the conversion (go figure). as far as weight distribution goes, it barely moves. an extra 150lbs over the front axle isnt so bad. eg-
the stock rx7 has a near equal weight distribution (close enough to 50:50), and with driver is actually slightly back heavy.
gxl weighs 2700lbs dry right? (something liek that) so thats 1350 per end. stick that additional 150 over the front and we have 1500:1350. that translates to 52.6:47.4. still a better balance than the hachi or 240. add driver, and it moves slightly more towards that 50:50 mark- but not by much.
also, the v8 is mounted very low and sits up against the firewall.
o the point is- youd have a 2850lbs car with 300 hp stock. i cant complain.
btw- i plan on some pretty stiff coilovers (probably tein HE - 10kg front, 8kg rear) and a roll cage, so it should handle quite well.

o and for mister sparkle- i dont have anything against the rotary- its just too expensive. sorry buddy.

What the!?! Is that a 20V??
Or an inline 6 of some sort?

Mr. Sparkle
06-29-2003, 12:05 AM
the V8 rx7's definitely haul *Censored**Censored**Censored*. The rotary engine isn't too light-- ranging from 300's for the 12A to ~450 for the 13B-REW. It's compact size allows for the optimum weight distribution.

As far as weight distribution goes with V8 7's, the driver weight is not going to offset it, since the driver position in the vehicle is almost always in the center of the car in 2 door sport coupes.

edit: btw rub, what engine is that? It looks familiar. looks like an inline 6...maybe a 1JZ-GTE? Doesnt look like a nissan engine according to my friend-- most nissan engines use timing chain

135 in my wrx was easy....need to find more room to stretch her legs out. 135 in my first mustang was scary (lots of front end lift...didn't know much about suspension setup at the time).

i think speed is all relative to what you're doing it in (or on). my buddy has a gsx750 and 150 on that is cake. he said it feels like a rail. 150 in a 1929 model A (if possible) would be insane fear.
