Ryuji Miki debuts NEW Lexus SC430 in Qualifying Position!!!

The Formula Drift Series: Round 3 held at Wall Stadium in Wall, New Jersey would be the stage for the debut of the very First Lexus SC430 Drift Car to hit the track in the United States. The vehicle would be piloted by none other
than former D1 GP Champion, Ryuji Miki. Miki would be jumping into this car from a Right-Hand Drive Mazda RX-7, which he had driven for the team 7, competitively in the Formula Drift Series since the 2007 season. The Lexus
SC430, a completely different platform, is a Left-Hand Drive V8 powered machine that Miki would have to acclimate himself to rather quickly to stay within the reach of the competition. And he would do so to the surprise of
many as he states, “the SC430 chassis is one of the easiest” he has ever driven at such an early stage of a vehicle. In addition, there were many fans that owned Lexus SC430’s who approached the team stating how “surprised” and “awesome” is was to see a Lexus SC430 drifting.

Qualifying- Ryuji Miki burned through the rubber of the Hankook RS tires through the bank and finished the figure-8 section of the course while hitting every single clipping point and running a smooth run. Miki would pilot the A’PEXi / Hankook Tire Lexus SC430 to an overall 27 qualifying position out of a 42 car entry field on its first time out in competition.

TOP 32- In the Top 32 round of tandem, Ryuji Miki and the A’PEXi / Hankook,Tire SC430 would face off with Ross Petty in his Nissan Silvia S15. During the first run, Miki was unable to chase down the SR20DET powered S15 of Petty and would try to compensate by catching up to him on various turns throughout the course.

On the following run, Miki would lead and run a clean run, with good angle and a smooth line, but Petty was able to close the door during the last turn going across the finish line. And the debut of the Lexus SC430 would end in the round of 32, but with excitement and with much potential to
succeed for the remainder of the 2010 season.
