i want to know how many people on here actually drift. i'm hoping this isn't a repeat thread. i couldn't find anything like it, so here it is...

i DON'T want to know if you are going to buy a 240 next week and then drift it.
i DON'T want to know if you take your parents car out once a week and try to drift it.
i DON'T want to know if you have driven you friend's hachi around a few corners.
i DON'T want to know that you have a civic (or any other FF car) and try to drift it.
i DON'T want to know if you drive around corners, step on the gas and call it drifting.
i DO want to know who here drifts on a regular basis. if you are learning, it's cool. we all started somewhere.

i have just noticed that on this board there are a lot of kids saying that, "i drive a civic, but i'm buying a 240 tomorrow" or, "when i'm old enough to get a car, then i will drift."

weeeeell, next week ima buy a 240sx and drift that, but as of now i only drift my civic hatchback and my parents lexus, i have driven my friend's 87 corolla gts and taken that around a few corners. My favorite technique is the turn-and-slam-the-pedal-to-the-floor drift and when i'm old enough to get a car ima get the USDM S16 Silvia GTS twin turbo

I'm learning, this summer is my big learning session. I am learning in my FC, but plan to buy a 240 off one of my friends who doesn't want to completely redo a 240 into a drifter. Although, it's daily business at our shop.

i drifto, got a 95 240 with a few mods,i just creep to this spot at night, got the place to myself for like half an hour, this is reapeated every night,so i suppose i drift to your standards but who cares you only put limits on people with treads like this yo.

I take my 190 up on the touge, get it a bit sideways on occasion, when I'm driving really agressively. But I wouldn't say I actually drift on a really regular basis.

dont have a car that i am going to drift. and i have yet to drive anyother drift car. so i would say i dont drift. but i think i should learn the most about it by watching and reading before i actually do it. wish i did have a car, but then i wouldnt have a place to go and be safe so...i dont drift.

I'm an FF drifter!!! so if your car isn't FR your not a "Real Drifter" you all see my point so I will stop there because we have already discussed that. I drift, every night I'm out working on my technique, I practice harder than alot of people here, and if your ever near akron I'll show you :-)

CRASHDRIVE

Same here. FC drifter. If you own an FC for Drifting, you can practically drift any other fr cars. I BELIEVE that FC's are the hardest FR cars that you can drift (other than a high powered car). SDROTARY, you going to the meet right? Sometimes I think im the only Rotary in SD that drifts :)

FYI. My car is in minimal mode. It's not in it's 100% because of some tranny problems. Can't drift that hard, until I swap the whole front and rear (S5 conversion).

Um, I hate to admit it, but not really. My husband usually takes the 240 and I drive my focus (which I love for its own purposes). I don't dare practice with the baby in the car, so I don't get many chances. So, the answer is no. I haven't truly gone sideways yet. I hope to turn that into a yes soon. I'll post again after I get it right and you can all cheer for me.

I drift! A Levin on the track, but as we have snowy winters here in Norway I've drifted about every car I've driven :D The coolest drifting this winter was when a bunch of us went on a weekend trip to a ski resort in the Norwegian mountains. Our transportation for the weekend was a Lancer EVO VI and an Impreza WRX. We never saw the slopes :D

I started a half year ago on FF. I wouldn't diss FF, but it's nothing like rwd, sorry. As my sig says, I'm a back road drift noobie. I do it for recreation and for fun. I don't have a proper ride, so I can't really get serious with it.

My first drift car was my '89 Buick Lesabre, good for learning feint and some minor throttle/brake control, primarily weight shifting.

Now I've got my brother's '88 Ranger 2wd with a crappy 2.0L, woot 70hp! It barely has enough power to keep the rear end loose on gravel let alone get up to 65mph. It's rear heavy and the front brakes lock up way to early. It leans, has a bench seat(rear tires not the only things sliding), high center of gravity. The perfect drifter, lol!

That's ok, getting something better soon. 240sx? eh, maybe not. In the mean time, I learn on a rwd platform.

I R AUTO DRIFTER.....still learning.... its been about 3 months ive learned in my 240sx but i was already good with car control before that soo i learned pretty fast and easily with my 240sx ...im improving greatly....my advice to people going into drifting is try to learn how to drive a car first then go drifting cus if u just jump in and try it ur gonna have a hard time....

I'm curious, a lot of you are saying touge. I've seen vids of touge battles, but is touge used as a specific place or is it a general term for a type of road? I was thinking it was a specific place first, but I can't see everybody using the same road all the time.

driftfreak
03-04-2004, 04:59 PM
touge is japane for mountian pass
it gets tossed around...well the reason i doit is cause its a lot eaiser to say im going out to play on touge than saying im going out to play on the really winding road in the mountian....if ya get my drift..(bad pun)

I drift, I'm lucky enough to live in OKinawa! You're supposed to be 18 to drive off base but i'm 17 and I still go off base and have so much fun. Over here the roads are made of coral and they're slick as ice when they're wet.

I drift. I'm learning. I usually wake up in the middle of the night (around 2-3am) with an urge to drift, so I do. I drift everynight till I see the sun come up. I dont use brakes, I mostly use feint technique. My brakes do not work. I drive kouki ae86. I'm ok. I'm staring to learn how to change my line while drifting.
