  • E30's (BMW) Whats the E30 mean?

Hello, i've been trying to find out what exactly E30 means on a BMW. I've heard many things, like its what its called in Europe, and stuff like that, but nothing for sure.

So my question is, what does the E30 mean when people say like "I have a 1984 BMW 325e E30".

My next question is, does anyone know what the "e" means at the end of "325e" on that BMW model, i need help fast, could someone help me please?

    e30 is the chassis designation.

The e designates it is an eta, or high-efficiency, model. This means 2.7L, 121hp and 170lb-ft. Low revs, though, too lazy for fun.

      think S13, S14, etc.

The BMW 3 series cars are the E30 body style (84-91) was replaced with the E36 (92-98) in and the current 3 series which is the E46 (99-).

Eta motors suck, weaker valve springs and other such nonsence to try to squeaze more MPG out the car...
        avoid if you can

Eta's are torque monsters, that's about it. In addition to weaker valve springs, they have a much more restrictive intake manifold.
