well..theres pretty much nothing some ppl could do...
cept sit back and watch the sparks fly...sparks from cars hitting the guardrails and walls...Drifting,i think is pretty much going in the same direction of streetracing

this is kinda like a modified verson of something i read on somebodys signature
"theres a fine line between drifter and poser that line is skill...."

Can't do anything about it.

Next thing you know, It will be illegal to have a RWD car. OR they will raise the insurance on old RWD cars OR add higher tax on newer RWD models.

thats exacly right and also the exact thing that i was thinking......we will c who the true drifters are when drifting blows up and becomes mainstream in the us.....there will b the marvelous drifters sliding perfectly around the corner and there will b the posers understering around the corner and hitting the wall:mad:

Drifting has been public for a while now, buds.

All the more reason to not allow any discussion of street drifting on the boards. The last thing I want is for the demand of S13s to go up more because posers are crashing them like crazy. Insurance is already bad, it'll just get worse.

how is this possibly new to any of you? its been in the magazines for years, and think about it, the only people that are gonna be watching the show are people that would be reading the magazines. i personally think its almost to its peak, but dont freak out, nothing big.

I know its been out for a while but what I ment by this is that more cops are going to get a hang of it!!!

i dont think you have to worry about that. people have been sliding around here for a while.....and i know some idiots that have been pulled over countless times for it and all the cops think they are doing is driving like idiots...they never mention drifting or anything

I dont get it, what is wrong about it being maintrem?

You know the more followers, that means more parts, which means a more competative market which = CHEAPER PARTS

also MORE TRACK TIME and cheaper track cost!, more chances of getting sponsors oh and did i mention CHEAPER PARTS

brothaman youre partially right, but i think some of their fears are valid....ive wanted a 240 for like 3 years, and i literally have only found 1 in my area worth buying...so i did:D but slowly the 240 numbers are depleting...however i also think that is probably the only valid fear

I know how that is, try having your 240stolen and looking for another 240, harder then it use to be, but I still like the idea that drifting is mainstream

Why do you people worry so much about drifting being "discovered"?
Get real, drifting is old. Its just a technique used to attack a curve.
Now, D1-like competitions are a mix between an autocross race and a burnout contest, dont get me wrong, i love them, but its nothing out of this world. You just get impressed by the cars and the kind of driving that is not ussually seen publicly in the US.
If you keep worrying about what people might think, say, do, youll never get to work on your technique.

So, quit your yakking, and attack the nearest apex at full throttle.

I think of it as a good thing. It will be easier to get parts for my corolla from japan. I can get all I need now... but for a price. I hope more aftermarket companies make more products to support my car. There are so many good ideas that enthusiasts bring up but rarely do they come to fruition. The big companies have the ability to take mare risks. And if the risk goes down by drifting becoming more popular than I am all for it.

I dont think it is good to go big. There are a very limited number of 240s and spots. Once everybody gets into it (which has already started) then both of those are going to go on the rapid downcline. It all started over a year ago but im glad the magazines are starting to tune it out. There must have been 20 kids at my school that were "all about drifting" already saving for the one thing every drifter needs a SR20DET. "If you dont have a 500hp SR20 how are you supposed to drift. When I mentioned T/C rods or coilovers they laughed at me. That is how most people are and they mess up spots for us. If I get pulled over at a good spot and the cop is hella pissed and was waiting for me, it was most likey because a bunch of people have been going there.

The only good thing is it will get us more track time. Cheaper parts is BS. APC might sell cheaper but even parts in Japan are about the same. Shipping is what is expensive.

I just thought of a good reason for drifting to stay (already has) mainstream. Local junkyards are going to become full of drift cars. Hopefully with aftermarket parts.

if drifting gets big in the US more auto makers will produce more cars that cater to the sport and culture. Just look at the cars that came out following the F&theF "ricer" thing.

Oh yeah? what about companys coming to the states that didnt have offices in the states b4? Is that BS? What about local companies that are starting to come up making good parts such as SPL parts and Battle Version? The more people they get the more money they get and the more good parts they get to make

I hate all the stupid little poser kids who walk up to my friend's 240 and ask him if he drifts. I hate all the initial d fanboys, too. Why do you think you have to pay $1500 to buy a beat up corolla older than most of these fanboys?
