valve cover

i removed the valve cover and took off the upper chain guide, but my car still makes a tick noise. sounds like a rotating tick, its in the front upper part. what can that be? and is it bad to put on cover without new gasket?..

That gasket is there for a reason... your going to be spraying oil all over.

Most likely just lifters, don't worry about it

If you’re really worried about the gasket, just go down to auto zone and buy some silicone gasket maker to finish up the job.

Just buy a new gasket, they aren't expensive. Does the sound happen everytime you start your engine??

Theres a lot it could be really; For all you know an engine mount is going bad and letting the engine rock a bit. A tube somewhere could be nocking agaisnt the engine. Could be your brakes... etc

I heard a ticking sound from my car, it turned out to be the antena wire (my radio is disconencted at the moment) was hitting the tire and slapping up against the fender.
