sorry if this is a stupid question but is that the catalytic converter towards the middle? if so i didn't you could get down-pipe back exausts!

though the exaust can be loud at times (wide open throttle) the resonator helps to keep the around town noise down. As well Most (scca ect) sactioning boddies require a resonator for track noise regulations.
