Barefoot Drifting
I'm just trying to learn about drifting and I heard some guys talk about driving barefoot and drifting. weird to think of you guys squealing/sliding/drifting and knowing that some guys are doing it completey barefoot.
how common is barefoot drifting and why do you drift barefooted?can you look at some of these videos and kind of guess which guy is drifting barefoot just by some of his technique ? what's the point of barefoot? |

driving barefoot would probably give u better feedback from the car and allow u to be more precise in the amounts of gas/brake your giving the car.
thats because if your wearing shoes, the padding and rubber on the bottem or whatever would dull down the feeling u get from the pedals, giving u a slightly more vague feeling. |

my friends called me the flip flop drifter for a while because i drifted in flip flops but i got new flip flops about a year ago and couldnt do it anynmore because they would get stuck when i tried to let out the clutch. since then i have drifted barefoot and i tell you, its very comfortable, and me being the spiritual dork i am, i feel more connected to the car and it relaxes me. plus im hawaiian, we dont wear shoes

I never tried in slippers but yeah barefoot works good for me. Dosnt have anything to do with the feel, more so knowing that I wont accidentally clip the wrong pedal while drifting (since I have big feet that need big shoes). And I'm Hawaiian too hahaha so yeah, its natural LOL

I drive best bare foot also. I got a pair of puma speed cats that feel good when i drive, but after buying them Ive come to the conclusion that driveing shoes are over rated.

my shoes have orange neon groud effects and shaved shoelaces. The tongue acts as a spoiler to give me the downforce i need for double-clutchin in a drag race. They are made of lightweight carbon fibre and have a lowering kit for my Dr. Scholls gel insoles.

very very well over-rated..i drive with the shoes that i have like rebook old school stylo or some newbalance runing shoes, i also recomend to try guaraches or chanclas for drifting (i try it yesterday in my dadīs karmann ghia couse i was cleaning it...)

get some cheap racing shoes... all the feel you'll need, and they're only a little bigger than your foot. super low chance that you'll get caught up in the pedals.
