Question Nissan 240sx transmission

I redently got a 240sx and the thing is that its automatic, that would do for now but when i start racing im going to need it to be manual. My question was does anyone know how hard it is to make the conversion and around how much it mite cost? I just want to get an idea cz if its going to be like way tom much, i might as well just sell it.

for the stock ka it shouldnt be too bad. i have removed/installed trannies on my 240 before, and the hadest part is getting a way for the tranny to be held up while you bolt in/unbolt the crossmember. im not sure how much the tranny would cost, but i figure about 200 bucks from a junkyard or soemthing like that...im not sure how the shifter would work on an auto to manual swap, but on the manual tranny its like 4 bolts and a snap ring. so shouldnt be too outragously expensive....hope that helps

Aside from the misson, you have to buy everything else such as the flywheel, flywheel bolts, manual bell housing bolts, clutch, pressure plate, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, the lines that go with the system, and to top it all off a 5spd drive shaft. If you are lucky and can find the parts used should be around 450 to 500 and you install by yourself. If you have a shop do it tack on another 500.

I got my conversion for $300 with new clutch and flywheel and a good trans. All I needed after that was the shifter boot, pilot bearing. I also had a custom driveshaft made that was $300 but with the stock driveshaft (included in the orig $300) I could have easily done it for $350 or so since I rebuilt my clutch master and some other little stuff. Its a really easy swap as long as everything goes smoothly my old pilot bearing was so siezed I had to drill it out and break it.
