But wrecked already broke the news, so now I don't feel real bad about opening my mouth about it...

So it looks like Robbie Nishida Might be running with another team in 2011.

If you have followed the sport the last 3 or 4 years you can see this man is a serious championship threat with the right machine and backing. And with the Gruppe S shoving him in to a underdeveloped chassis giving him almost zero hope for a good 2010 season, there is a good chance he might not be returning to the team.

So the question I will ask is what team or situation you would want him to end up with or in coming into 2010. On the pole I put together a list of teams IMO can realistically support him. I thought it was a decent show, here are some low and high points from my perspective.

Pros:
1 hour long
Got the whole top 16 in 30 mins
Good D1ish camera angles

Cons:

Commentating was the worst I have heard in a while. It was like the guy didn't get the proper translation of the event. His emotions sound really force, at one point he just yelled out DAMN. And there was too much basic drifting lingo if you could call it.

Terms "line" "speed" and "angle" shouldn't be used that much, especially if you put a "killer" or "crazy" before them every single time. Please get a guy who genuinely likes this sport, I question if this fellow has ever been to a drift event.

The precursor with Americans coming to japan background was a bit too much. 30 minutes of the show was dedicated too that, and throughout the whole thing they kept reflecting back to the American drivers as if they are that relevant. I would like to see much more drifting content in a 1 hour show.

It might seem like I didn't like the show, but honestly it was decent... better then what I thought it would be. Just have to put my dislikes in detail to truly get my point across. The good

Jarod and Ryan did good job with the commentary.

I loved some of the angles they filmed with (over head stuff)

Segments with JR at the fantasy factory was great

The Bad

I saw little to no hype about this from FD on this sight and other places on the internet. I didnt even know it was coming on and i happened to be channel surfing and caught it. Formula D, you have to do a better job on getting the word out on this type of stuff.

The WORST thing to me about the episode was i was checking it out in HD and the audio did not match their mouths. It felt like i was watching an old karate flick dubbed into english. For this i was a little embarrassed as it looked very "unfinished." :(

And with a airbrushed godlike physique in magazine adds I thought Ed Bergenholtz was a model turned racer. Drag racing just plain didn’t interest me for many reasons. Growing up in the IE, the street racing scene was full of stock or swapped 90s hondas. And if you had cash you probably drove an eclipse, Celica, GTI, RSX, Prelude, or something of that nature. Essentially something kind of fast and was easy to modify.

The scene was full of teenagers and men in there 20s who spent most of the time talking trash before actually racing. Maybe for 20 to a few hundred bucks at the most, and if someone did race for “pinks” their car wasn’t worth much in the first place and was probably built off stolen parts. Don’t act like you don’t remember the term “sleeper”, a car that looked stock or looked like sh!t that was pretty fast. Something like a primer CRX with some sort of B18 or something. I haven’t been to the street races in years but the last time I went the crowd didn’t change a whole lot. Only noticeable changes I saw were a lack of attractive untaken women lol, and kids huffing balloons filled with nitrous oxide. It seemed like a bad house party more then an act of illegal motorsports. Now you might ask why I’m I just talking about the illegal side of the sport and not the real thing. Well because basically that’s all I really know about it. I was raised on F1 and Lemans, and took interest in mini trucks more less to piss off my dad before discovering drifting.

But while in Vegas sitting in the stands during qualifying, as I usually do if someone near me doesn’t quite understand what’s going on I always politely inform and educate them. As I was doing this a man in his 30s made a comment saying something about how he cant stand drifting and how it killed Spocom drag. I turned and smiled back and jokingly said “What’s Spocom Drag, import cars dressing up as domestic cars?”. The guy had a sense of humor and we struck up a 15 minute conversation about the subject. With him basically saying that Drifting took all the spocom sponsors, market, venues, etc etc. I kind of replied with agreeance, but pointed out certain drag race teams took it upon them selves to get into the sport of drifting. As well as the fact there have been collaboration events with both drift and drag and that some drag organizers tried to start there own drift series. And I also pointed out that the market is ever evolving and with the downward economy some companies just didn’t have anything left.

So umm yeah

What do you guys think, why is spocom drag in the position that its in today?
