New RWD vehicles from GM
To expand upon what other have said about new RWD GM's
The Solstice will have a starting price under $20K with 170HP A supercharger will be available from the dealer, no factory version is yet confirmed The Chevy Nomad on the same platform (Kappa) will be a 2+2 hatchback Saturn is getting a Kappa sports car Other Kappa cars may be in the works for Pontiac, Buick and Cadillac Also, the larger Zeta platform has the following cars planned 2007 Buick luxury sedan 2008 Buick Convertible 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix 2008 Pontiac GTO 2008/09 Chevrolet coupe and convertible (Possibly named Camaro) 2009 Chevrolet impala 2010 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Also there are still rumors that GM may import the V8 powered Holden Ute (think Monaro with a truck bed) as the next El Camino and the V8 powered Holden Statesman as the Buick Roadmaster. That list is not finalized but GM is definately going to have more RWD and performance models in all of their divisions. |

Theres your kappa line up. Nomad. 05 (or early 06) solstice, and 06 saturn curve. The curve has 230 hp (at least the concept does) and is rumored to be cheaper than the solstice, so prob wont make it to production with so much. The solstice sits on a spaceframe, factory coilovers, 2.2L ECOTEC engine, powering the rear wheels that will prob be 17". Umm...for more info, go to solsticeforum.com. Lotta smart guys that have been following the car closely. Both the curve and the solstice hoods open forward. I dont know about the Nomad. Curve back end. Profile Solstice |

It's actually been stated that the Curve will not make production but the resulting Kappa Saturn will probably take some design cues from the Curve.
And if want a wealth of info go here www.cheersandgears.com |

hmmm...so their using the ecotec motor...that'll be good consdiering they already have alot of mods for those motors. Turbo, super, cams, etc. Hell GM even sells all the parts needed to make the ecotec have 1,500hp O_o
Not to much of a fan on the saturns looks. But the Pontiac looks kinda like a porshe boxer and the nomad looks pretty cool. Kinda old school yet station wagon.

I like the Curve, and I hate Saturns!
It looks like a ZR-1 molested a Ford Probe - it would be awesome if it had a hatch! -MR |

yeah the solstice is pretty bada$$. how much does it cost?only thing i dont like is the hood openin forward. for some reason, i hate that. doesnt seem like enough room to work from the sides. maybe its just me. the grille has to go, and it could use a back seat, but im not one to complain... much. itll be good to see some more RWD domestics out there. plus they can finally start rep'n for detroit. some comp for the JDM craze.

I need an HSV Maloo really bad. Think 400 horses, 6ft bed, independent suspension, 6 gears, and awesome looks.

Ford Australia also produces a Falcon 4 door that comes with a Turbo I6 or a V8 making up to 390 HP. Why do the Aussies get all the cars that sound so American? (ie V8 RWD) |

Thanks...but yea I actually modified a picture to make it look like auto modilista. Back before the game came out I started doing that with photoshop. So far I've only been able to do cars and cartoon charecters. I've tried humans but could never pull it off. O_o

That's awesome!
And, eh, who cares about humans, they're boring anyway. Cars generally have much more personality. If I were to ask really, really nice someday, could you do something like that for me? I'm planning a website, and though it's far from realization, I think it'd be cool to have something cel-shaded up there. No pressure, no sweat. |

I like the Kappa platform, and I think its really something that GM needs to stay competative. The only really inspiring cars they offer here in the States are the Corvette, XLR, and maybe the GTO and CTS-V. The Solstice would really boost GM's image, and would be a domestic challenger worthy of the MX-5. The Curve is just a little odd looking, more like a design study with Seat front styling than a car from our plastic-bodied, FWD friends at Saturn. Compaired with the other two, the Nomad looks a little bland, sorta like it was an afterthought. The one bad thing about Kappa tho, it would replace my favorite car, the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220, which is currently based off the Lotus Elise platform. Kappa would be much cheaper for GM to use than Lotus, so inevitably those cars would switch to Kappa. The Vauxhall Lightning concept was based off of it, and altho it looks very good, I dont think it compares with the clean lines and presence of the VX220 which it would replace, if made.

I love the Lightning........it's so much hotter than the Solstice's bubbly shape. Maybe one day putting "EDM" bodywork on Solstices will be all the rage.
It's interesting that you bring up the VX220. We almost got that car about 5 years ago when Vauxhall and Opel were roadtetsting their prototypes. GM thought about bringing it here as an entry-level sports car for under 19 grand. The spy shots were gorgeous: curvy with vents and fender flares......yum yum. They tried it 2 years later but it didn't make it. So what happens? Instead of getting an affordable American sports car we now have the pleasure of drooling over a Japanese-powered Elise (essentially the same car as the VX220) that only the rich can afford. *Sigh*
