1st of all, THANK YOU as always to the fans!!!
The drivers, crew, staff and everybody HAD to be there of course to put on a show for you the fans but the FANS endured some very extreme conditions, 100+ degrees in the hot sun during Qualifying on Friday and a good crowd showing on a Friday at that! Of course smoking em until late into the night Saturday and congrats to the podium standers, Tyler "The Rock" McQuarrie, Dai Yoshihara and Vaughn Gittin Jr. You the fans also were there in record numbers, the stands were at capacity!! Like PACKED from start to finish, that was awesome when I asked how many people have been here from when the sun was blistering I'd say 75% of the hands went up... Thank you sooo much and I'm sure you enjoyed some phenom driving! Not too much carnage from Top 32 to podium and very little One More Time battles.... I must apologize for a few things that weren't exemplary of the caliber of Formula Drift events... For one the audio had a few issues during the national anthem and Top 16 driver intros, believe me it was a bummer but we worked through it. It was due to the generator getting TOO hot (surprise surprise) and tripping the breaker. I must also apologize for a fight that broke out right before Top 4, some people cant handle the heat so they fight the kitchen... Bummer that one person or 2 are selfish enough to ruin the flow of an event, i remember when I had my 1st beer... Regardless couple hiccups in the event but overall the progression of the driving, the events and YOU the fans just makes FORMULA DRIFT to be the Premiere International Drifting sanctioning body! Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to a great event at round 6 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA Sept 10-11th ![]() ![]() ....SEND IT!!! ![]() ![]() Also, be sure to check my blog for some good times behind the scenes and my perspective!!! www.JarodDeAnda.com

I got to experience this event from the stands, which is different from how I normally experience it. There were a few items of feedback that I wanted to post about, many were shared by others in our group:
- Break from top 32 to top 16 - I understand that the break is at every event, with the intention of giving fans a chance to check out the pits and paddock... but when Top 32 ended 45 minutes sooner than scheduled, I feel that the call should have been made to start top 16 30-45 minutes earlier than scheduled. Will call / tickets closed at 9pm (maybe earlier if they were sold out?), so it's not like we were waiting for more people to show up at the gates. The majority of people were in the stands by 10pm because they had already walked the pits for 2 hours. A lot of people around us in the stands were ancy to go eat / drink / play at the tables, and many of them were leaving midway thru top 8 because it was nearly midnight and they hadn't eaten dinner (because they had been at the track since 4pm!). With very little food options at the track (and the UNLIMITED food options in Vegas), it's understandable why they would leave. - Top 16 intros were too long. Not just talking about the audio issues, but how long it took to get all the cars parked, the sponsors beginning their t-shirt throws AFTER all the cars had left, etc. There should be a 5 minute window for sponsors to throw out shwag while the cars are being parked, if you don't get your shwag out then, tough. It dragged out the already-long introductions another 10 minutes while they drove their truck out there, fired the t-shirt gun a bunch of times, went and picked up all the shirts that didn't make it over the fence, then drove off course. - Jarod commenting on the instant replay as if the spectators could see it - This happened in Seattle as well. I understand that J-rod is also commenting for the live stream, but perhaps the stadium could be muted and he can make commentary to live stream participants without the spectators looking around wondering what he's looking at since there's no jumbotron for them to follow along. - No speaker near the finish line - I watched qualifying near the finish line, and we couldn't hear the scores. Also, many people who weren't able to find room in the stands were watching from there since it was one of the only places to stand and watch the course, and you couldn't hear who moved on. A simple fix, but something worth mentioning. Overall, the event ran very smoothly, and the cooler temperatures this year compared to last year made the event much more tolerable. The drive home was horrible on Sunday, but there's nothing anybody can do about that. If the event returns to Vegas next year, I'll probably fly just to avoid that drive

Jacob,
noted buddy on the feedback... It's interesting how everybody's experience and perspective is soooo different... That's why I appreciate constructive criticism but as Ive definitely learned over the years, it's 1. Easier to be negative than positive 2. No matter what ya can't make EVERYBODY happy 3. Formula Drift listens! 4. I'm a fan just like you! Word up buddy and fans! BTW, I thanked the fans but I really do thank the drivers, crews, sponsors, spotters, etc.

Ehhhhh
Without going into detail This event lacked the feel of the previous years. I dipped out before the top 4, missed the fight. Big Ups to Tony B for putting on a good show, this was his best outing ever in FD.

Had a great time. Vegas needs the big jumbo screen like the one at Irwindale. Race clips, interviews, and shenanigans could have filled the down time. The audio hiccups didn't bother me. My only complaint, the FD both was packed and gone before the race was over. I didn't get to purchase any FD schwag.
I will be there next year and the year after that. |

I had a lot of fun in vegas. I think the night drift is a good change up from the normal day events. Def. a different event at night.
