Carlos Cano's 620SX being built by Sinister Designs Inc.

Hello everyone. My name is Daniel John. Most people new me back in the day on the rotary forums as the Mechanical_Deviant. I am in the process of opening my own shop Sinister Designs Inc we speacialize in all types of fabrication. We are sponsoring a 240sx vert for Carlos Cano for XDC this year. You might know Carlos from top drift in his yellow S200 powered AE86.

The build started a couple months ago but was put on hold for the holidays. We have recently resumed the project. We will attempt to update on here daily. The build is a 92 240sx vert. It is being powered by an L92. The L92 is a 6.2 Cadillac Escalade motor and very similar to the LS3. We will plan on using a Hurst t56 transmission, complete custom suspension and knuckles. The car will have custom wiring and be powered off a stock ecu flashed and re tuned.

I am going to post some pics to bring everyone up to speed. The car is being prepped for a tube chassis front and rear end. The car is already seam welded. We finished up the motor mounts yesterday.

Hi Daniel, which swaps have you done in the past and how hard will it be to wire the L92?

@alex
Ok list of swaps....hmm well I used to do lots of honda swaps, other then that its a handful of just random swaps. Wiring isn't usually an issue. To be honest my brother is the wiring master. He can pin and un pin ecu connectors and do all kinds of crazy madness. He adds and removes things out of factory harnesses for me, and when he is done you ususally cant tell he was there. I also have him re pin all my broken plugs. I like harneses on motor swaps I do to look factory and have hold downs.

@ Blaze.
Why not a vert? Acutally we originally were doing two cars and we just thought it would be cool to have twin verts. The other car is still being built but not this extensively and wont be doing a whole season.

Ok its been a busy hectic few days. We made up a diff adapter to install a Z32 diff, and installed R33 axels. We did the 5 lug conversion on the back and made up the brackets for the hydro E-brake calipers. Also picked up so shiney toys.

There any way you can get more photos of the caliper braket you made? I'm interested in that.

Ok people I am alive. The whole shop was down for a week. One of us had bronchitis and the other two of us got strep. We did manage to chop up the headers and do a couple other things. I will start back in on the project today. We have basically no time to build this car so this should become quite the show. I will post pics later today we have quite the collection of nice parts mounding up here.

On that note....SICK BUILD!!! lol

I always questioned the rigidity of the verts... but once you get seam welded and caged it kinda throws all that out the window.

Actually I dont know if you have ever seen a vert in person stripped. They come with a massive amount of bracing and are basically seam welded from the factory. I think that the verts are very stiff from the factory. They are acutally built as coupes. Then braced inside then the roofs are cut off, all at the factory. We were told by Formula D we were only allowed to remove enough bracing to install our cage. Also the RX7 verts are built as verts from the factory. Thats why the FC verts only way a couple hundred lbs more, where as the 240 vert is substancially heavier then a coupe.

just food for thought

Ok the wiring. Hmm well it will be started this week. My bro does the wiring. It will probably take about 4 hours to decipher all the wiring and for him to draw a schematic. Once he has a layout and direction it usually takes about 8 hours of work to completely wire a car.
