MOPAR ANNOUNCES 2005 FORMULA D SERIES PLANS

Center Line, Mich. - Mopar is pleased to announce that it has re-signed SCCA
Formula D Series champion Samuel Hubinette for the 2005 season. Hubinette is slated to compete in the entire Formula D Series schedule this season,
beginning with the April 16 event at Wall Speedway in New Jersey.

"With our success as a team in 2004, I'm really excited about continuing my
role with Team Mopar," Hubinette said. "It's great to know that we'll be able
to immediately expand on our experience from last year. We're also looking
forward to working with the new car this season. It will be a challenge to
repeat as champions, but we're looking forward to trying to do so."

Following the success of Mopar's 2004 drifting campaign, the brand is pleased
to continue its relationship with Hubinette.

"We're very pleased to have Samuel back in the driver's seat for the 2005
season," said Kevin Miller, Mopar's Senior Brand Manager. "Winning the
inaugural Formula D Series championship proves that Samuel isn't afraid to push the envelope.

"We're also pleased to continue competing in the Formula D Series. This
series provides us with an avenue of involvement in a competitive automotive
series that is just starting to impact the United States. We're looking forward to expanding with the sport of drifting as it becomes a fixture in the motorsports arena."

Hubinette will pilot the Mopar SRT10 Dodge Viper in 2005, which will be maintained by DC Performance. The machine is a street-legal version of Dodge's monstrous muscle car, and is not to be confused with the Viper Competition Coupe that Hubinette campaigned in 2004. Dan Cragin of DC Performance will act as the team's crew chief.

In 2004 Hubinette took the drifting scene by storm, sweeping three of the
four events en route to claiming the series title. He will look to again claim
top honors this year, as well as expand his presence in different avenues of
    the sport.

I knew that this would be their choice because
            1) The viper has made Sam famous in both road racing as well as drifting
            2) Dodge wants to promote the recently release the coupe version of the srt10 viper and the knowledge of tuning it to the competition coupe specs are there.
            3) Legitimize their victories from last year by a repeat performance this year with a street legal car that is proven to be competitive and to his style.

you konw how many vipers tehy sell a year? marketing wise as far as pushing a certain product the charger needs it more than the viper. the reason tehy went with the viper is b/c its by far the most insane platform out there and will dessimate all after 15k overnight parts from japan.

winning = more exposure, sam is one hell of a driver, and with a viper hes damn near unstoppable. but that makes it kidna funner for the FD drivers to try to take down. honestly some the best battles i saw all year were ppl trygin to take sam down.

Oh Sammy Boy. Probably one of the coolest guys on the scene. (Next to Tarzan that is.) You know, at first I didn't like the Viper, but after seeing what Hubinette can do with it, it grew on me.

Wow, after all the speculating that has been done, DC goes and uses a normal Viper!

Well, Congrats to Sam for getting back in the saddle! I wish him the best of luck, and hope other drivers can prevent him from seeing the podiums!

I don't think we'll see a Corvette any time soon, at least from GM anyways. They probably have too much invested in the GM/RMR GTO to switch vehicles. Maybe when the GTO goes out of production in a few years...

the 2004 wasnt realy a viper, notice they refer to it as the competition coupe, its about as much of a viper as a nascar is what ever thay are based off of, this thread is full of nonsense. the viper again, no kidding, who is suprised. its their most competitive platforme, who would have thought they would actually use it, hmmmm......anyone with half a mind about them, they will be alot less dominating with an actual street car...

Predection............D/A Falken is gonna hand it to him
