You all may say "yeah right" or what not but what I saw yesterday at D1 was something ales and I have made up my mind. I will still be asking for advice...well a lot of advice but in 2 maybe 3 years when all those guys come back you will see me and my lil guy waiting for them.

So is the other 15000 people yesterday. Good luck with your dreams, but you do know that none of those pro drifters, besides the american drivers, have drifting as there number 1 motorsports. Most of them are JGTC or Nippon guys. Again good luck.

To be able you drift you first have to learn to grip my son.

Seriously tho, u should try out some auto-x or scca type racing first.Miata's even have their own division in scca i believe.Even if you don't go out to race you can get a lot of information from those guys as im sure they'd be willing to share.

That is what I think is wrong with the american Style, Americans usually pratice difting on flat grounds at either Gymkhana or on normal race tracks, when a majority of the Japanese drivers learned they're styles on the touge.

I personally am going to rewind back the the beginning, before D1, before drifting.com... I'm going back to butterflys and welded diff's...all the way back to the mountains, I am going to create my own personal style which will have ties to the japanese and american styles.

Good luck to you all with your styles...but remeber your roots...

                  Miatas in SCCA

In SCCA, Miatas do not have their own class, they run in normal classes. For a stocker such as yourself, Nismo, you should register in E Stock for a 90-93 1.6L, C Stock if your Miata is 94-97 1.8L, and I believe (not sure) that a 99+ 1.8L would be in B Stock, but i could very well be wrong on that, seeing as some vettes and scoobys run in B Stock.

There is a Spec Miata league, however, those are fully race prepped cars, which happen to be awful expensive to prepare.

Anyway, grip is IMO, the best way to learn car control, which will help you understand your car's handling and its limits. After all, if you blow a corner in auto-x you wipe out a few cones. On the street, you risk wiping out your car.

I remember reading about that spec miata class, takes like 7K to build one of those race miatas. Not a bad goal, but make sure you have steps to get there, like starting auto-x, then moving up to another class, another class, then up from there.
