  • rb25 vs. sr20

Hey guys whatsup? Im planning getting a s14 (s13 if i cant find a good s14 around) and im looking to do a swap. I want to do some drifting and some drag. I know the sr20 has really good in both worlds. But im just wandering some views on both engines taht you guys can give me. Like would the rb25 still be decent for drifting? etc thanks for any help!

I have a S14 with a SR20 and I love it. Id say get that rather than a Rb. Even though the RB has lots of power and potential your S14 will have bad weight distrabution. The SR is made for the 240 and you can make it fast.RB is cool cause its different though.Hope I could help

RB25 will have smoother delivery with 6 cylinders, and if you move a few things (battery and such) rearward, you won't really notice the difference in balance. Granted the RB is slightly heavier (no more than 75 lbs IIRC) it will take less money to produce the same amount of power as the SR. Style points are always a plus as well...

If you're really concerned about weight distro, you could always do a roof-induction trunk-mounted radiator setup like on the JGTC Skylines. This would also let you get superior airflow through your intercooler without doing a V-mount.

go with the RB if u get s13 hatch cuz they need more weight up front anyways.

RB or SR wont make a real difference in weight distribution because you can always change that by adding or subtracting from the front or back. One issue you might want to think about is who is doing the swap. The SR is pretty much plug and go. The RB will require some extra work like sometimes different drive shafts, wiring, cutting the hood etc. Also, the RB will be a little harder to get parts for as there was NEVER an RB in the US.

Think about it... are you really gonna be able to find parts for the RB? Probably not... It is not as easy to drop an inline six into an rps13. It is a little easier in an s14, but still no cake walk. An SR will always be better in a silvia. That is why silvias never came with RBs.
