The ken works drift car uses an sr20. SO yes, it is possible, however, I'm pretty sure it's not easy.

off the top of my head.. custom engine mounts, wiring up the ecu, custom driveshaft, custom tranny mount, uhh possible firewall modification, and of course, murphys law.

for possibility, anything is possible. how easy? if you are asking how easy i am assuming you aren't an expert fabricator so this will be extreamly difficult and/ or expensive.

Lex mark is right on this one. In reality just about ANY engine swap into ANY car is possible WITH enough money.

a I4 into a n I4 car shouldnt be much of a problem: But as stated

Custom engine mounts will be needed; wiring harness or custom wiring hanress; proper ecu to use the engine. Headers will need to be bent as the normal exhaust manifold obvsiouly wouldnt work. New clutch and tranny with custom tranny mounts. As pointed out before a custom drive shaft is going to be needed as their lengths wont be the same.

Over all: Very expensive. Id get a 20v 4age, turbo charge a 4agze, or even turbo charge a normal 4age before this. make just as much power and use the money to i dunno. .get a coilover suspension, fix anything broken... etc.

Dont over look BODY modifications, spot welding, cage. You will need a different axel, and driveshaft. New axel has new mounts, driveshaft, again new mounts, transmission, again new mounts.
New gas lines, they are gonna need to be bigger to accomidate. Its just not the engine, your building a whole new car.

wrong. all you need to do is get the motor bolted down. wiring is a sinch, just get the harness from your swap and depending on if its a showcar or a racecar either just wire up and zip tie it out of the way, or make it pretty. and get the tranny so the shifter goes where its suppost to. you can use the stock axles/rear/etc, all you need is a custom driveshaft. if your putting a lot of power down you might wanna upgrade the rear stuff, but custom fabbing all that stuff is definately not required by any means.

CA18DET swap is a lot easier in the 86. It has been done in several drag hechee's and they all run fast. But I wouldn't do that if I were you. Take a turbo 4A-GZE, as SidewaysGts has already written.

Also keep in mind that f20 (s2k engine for those who dont know) swap would cust them about 15 grand give or take. The interior needs to be stripped out the tanny well needs to be removed and modified just to accomodate the f20 tranny.

Custom axels? why? your custom driveshaft should mount to your stock dif.. so i see no reason to replace the solid axle.

Id be happy making a 16v or 20v engine that would put that f20 to shame grant it it would probably be unable to pass emissions, haha

The chassis will bend to sh!!t.
the 86 axle will be gone.
the T50 transmission will be done for.
Most transmissions that handle MORE horsepower and torque are bigger, longer, beefier to accommidate and be more compact in the sports cars they come in.
Do it right or do it wrong. I just dont want to ride in your car.
And why the hell are you people building show cars? So weak sauce.

The 86 drivetrain can handle around 250-300 horsepower, maybe a bit more... If your going to go way above those numbers then id suggest looking for stronger and lighter components.

                            Added:

Ill agree though Show cars suck... i hate them; a car is MADE to go fast (face it people: why else would they make cars capable of going over 100 mph whe the speed limit on msot highways is 70?), cars that only "look" fast but never go fast... pointless and a big wate of money. All show and no go = G@y (hatet he censoring here lol)

I have broken axels, and have friends who have broken axels on near stock 86s, intake exhaust and a little bit of head work.
