Aside from my car being in the accident, I'm done with drifting. Too much of a waste of time, but I finally figured out my reason to drift. It's too late to regain my confidence in drifting anymore. It's harsh, but I'd like to continue racing in a different way, maybe a variant of drifting will be developed one day, and the corporate world won't take advantage of how much money it'll make them. Drifting isn't about money, girls, or DJ trance shows. It's about the angle of the car, how much you're sliding, and what car you're trying to control. Cars are filled with stickers and Hot Import Nights is filling up the whole environment of drifting. And those new to drifting think this is normal, they aren't revealed to the original touge. How it started from one man or woman driving, and accidentally slipping till the sport it has brought us to now. I've never thought of the day where I'd speak out not to fix what others say, but to announce my leaving the sport. I won't be gone on the forums, I'd be glad to assist any person who is new or curious to the sport of drifting. Drifting is open to any age, it's only law that keeps them away from driving. Drifting should only be done in a safe environment. Too many people have died, or destroyed their cars, trying to imitate videos. To be safe, you should always try on tracks, or private property areas that you own. People think it's safe to drift on open parking lots and industrial areas, you're putting yourself in danger as well as other people who drive on that road. I have to admit that there are more fans than actual racers here but I wouldn't care. I know how to drift, I've practiced it, I'm done with it. It serves as no interest to me anymore. If you think I'm babbling away pointlessly, please leave a message and tell me why you think so, because frankly, I don't give a damn anymore. You guys have altered drifting forever. It should've been kept as an underground sport, but now look where it is, it's like illegal dragging now. One day, we'll have drifters that use decals as lights, and have beer advertisements all over our cars with two announcers who lack enthusiasm. Welcome to the real world of drifting kids.

Man this post makes no sense. You just lost a bunch of respect from me. If you really dont care then why are you proclaiming it to the world?? And on top of that, why all this pissing in the wind about the "corporate world" ruining drifting? Damn if you dont like that scene then dont participate in those events. Its as simple as that. Who cares what other people think. You gonna let someone else ruin your fun? If you really like drifting for the sport itself then you'd realize that all that stuff dosnt matter. So please come back at us, tell us you were drunk, temp insane, asleep, something and you'll be drifting again soon.

Sorry to hear you go. I'm one for believing that you really never truely leave anything you've liked doing.

I'll give you an example of RC cars. I've had them since as far back as I could remember, were always a blast. I've had my latest one for something like 8-9 years. I've played with it quite a bit, put a lot of money into it. For the last year and a half, it had been siting in my room collecting dust...a lack of interest, lack of time, laziness to solder on a loose wire. Was I done forever? Was I going to pack up and head to a land void of RC's? Nope, it sat...until one day. One day, I regained the interest and fixed it, charged the batteries, and took it out for a spiin. I now bring it to work and drive around on my breaks...coworkers have a little fun too. Despite the time I spent away from it, despite me probably being aboout 10 years too old for the thing, I can't really see myself without one. At some point when I'm 90 years old, I still see myself taking that think out(yep same one, lol) and cruising up and down the streets. It's a part of me, and it will never go away.

To me, driving is like this...drifting is like this. There will always be that corner...the one you've driven around a thousand times. You'll be in your Caddie or whatever you're driving at that time, and you know what? You'll have that suddent urge to drift that boat of a car. You'll enjoy it too. It'll never go away.


Now on to a slightly different topic, commercialism. Sorry, this can't be stopped. If the big execs think they can make money on something, they'll do it. If they make enough, it turns into a professional sport - lots of advertising, big names, big companies, lots of regulations. But you know what? There will still be those crazy teenagers out on the back roads, on in the mountains...drifting, for the pure joy of it. How it started, what created the whole drifting craze will never go away. How the mass public sees it, well that may be another story. Big business is something you can't control.

geez, would u give up eating too if u ate the same thing for like a week? no offense but it sounds like u just got tired of drifting cuz u got into an accident or cuz the big companies are making money off the sport. big deal, u shouldnt care bout nething but yourself and how much fun your having just sliding your car sideways. thats what it comes down to, just having fun with you and your car, thats it. if u dont think its fun nemore, why proclaim it to the world? just quit, end of story.

ha, thats funny. whats the difference, im a drifter, i dont really car much about formula D or any of its drivers, i honestly dont think theyre special in anyway, i dont care about the japanese drivers or D1, i drift on my own time, im pretty good, i could probably compete successfully in some lower level events, but again, i really dont care. i drift because i love it, its a rush like any other sport.

you think mountain bikers stop mountain biking cause theres sponsored mountain bikers? drifting has been HUGE in japan for some time now, it is literally nascar of japan, you think youd be a drifter if it was still underground in japan? gimme a break dude, im not sure what made you decide to puke that post on this site but it doesnt make any sense, you say corporate doesnt matter, then why are you letting it bug you so much as to stop drifting, obviously you never were a real drifter.

i cant imagine getting tired of drifting. i mean i loss many cars including my first drift car (kouki s14 SE) but did i give up? no, why? cuz i love what i did, and that was to just drive..... i love driving. its fun if you make it fun, drifting is a part of my life. its never a "waste of time" if your having fun. i never thought about giving up, i took whatever money i had which was 3k, pinching my wallet a lil and saving from my part time job and i was searching for another drift car (10 months) then i got me a fc3s turbo 2 (i got lucky on this one) and i got back up on my feet ready for the world of driving again. HARDSHIPS are part of life dude. itll all work out in the end. trust me

Dude the corporation take over was inevitable. It's inevitable with everything that shows promise of making gobs of money. Yes there are people that do things for other reasons than for the love of the sport. You can't watch an interview today of someone that wins an event without all the names stickered on the car coming out of the guy/girls mouth. "yeah i couldnt have done it without sparco, streetglow, turbonetics, kool aid, nike, milk, burger king, old navy blah blah blah". Don't let it get to you. Keep it underground yourself and love it for what it is. Ignore all that other crap.

Well like it or not drifting is mainstream right now and yes there are positive and negative things about that. Its all on how you look at it. I see it as a positive. Norcal drifting isnt really that big maybe its because of lack of tracks. But since its gone mainstream more people are willing to dish out money to have events. Like the people who posted before who cares what everyone else does or thinks. I drift because its fun and the people who actually drift are really cool people and really down to earth.

Shut up...During when he was posting in the forums, he had an accident that broke several major bones. He was hospitalized and didn't return until several months later. So you see, he came back. And for the rest of you flaming newbies...I wouldn't talk so big if I had like 17 or some 2 digit number posts. You're suppose to build peoples' respect during that time, you little pricks. I still have respect for Driftin Cressida. He's one of the few who drifted in this forum. You know how dedicated you have to be, to become a drifter? I'm not entirely quitting drifting forever, maybe there will be a chance for a comeback heh, no one's bringing me down on this subject though, you can cry and whine all you want but no matter what Thai Juku is right heh. U are the man thai! I never dedicated myself to "drifting", but to cars itself, and tuning it the way the Japanese have always. Japanese people are probably the best type of people except for the eroticms, lack of religion, or insane suicide rate, other than that, they're great. No thanks, heh, I have an LSD on it, and the transmission oil and engine oil have been changed and well maintanenced. The interior and exterior are close to flawless. Plus it has only about 80k miles on it I think. I stopped driving it because it looks old, heh, now I walk to school. So sad. hehe. Not giving her up though.
