1. Why is it so hard to find an 86 for sale?
you're looking in the wrong places. there's one for sale on here and there's tons at www.club4ag.com in the classifieds

2. I know absolutely nothing about cars, where can i learn?
start with what you need to know when you have the car

3. How do you induce a drift?
pay to go to a track event in your local area and sit in with an instructor and have them ride with you. there's lots of threads in this section about how to start them, but first start with donuts.

4. Why do people look down on me for wanting an 86 because of initial D?
because they think they're cooler than you for having known about the car first, don't worry about it. it's a good car and if you like it you like it, no matter what reason.

don't worry about getting made fun of, do what you like. you'll learn this later so just do it now. Go to a professional drift event and watch, you'll see lots of cars. better to learn in person than on the internet.

all beginners get made fun of, but it's not like most ppl that make fun of them, usually have much skill themselves.

Question 2:
If you can learn to read, you can learn about your car. I started back in the 5th grade when The Fast and the Furious came out. Yeah, I admit that. My friends got into the scene and I followed. Read every car magazine you can get your hands on. Sport Compact Car, Import Tuner, Modified, Super Street, Turbo, you almost can't miss. Buy or find a shop manual for your car. Read the first couple of chapters, which are usually chock full of common automotive knowledge that is universally true. Invest in some inexpensive tools (what AutoZone has is usually fine, then maybe step up to a name brand like Craftsman). Take good care of them and you'll be amazed what you can do.

If your car breaks, don't be afraid to fix it. Ask for help if you need it (which should be often). There are people who are eager to show what they know and you will be too, before long. Someone will give you crap for not knowing something. Trust me, they didn't come out of their momma' knowing everything they know now. Shrug it off, stick to what you know, and don't guess or act when you don't know. That last part is important, it can get you hurt or killed, so take pride in the fact that you know when you're wrong.

If you're in High School, take some Auto. Tech. courses and don't be the kind that likes to sit in class and sleep and screwoff. You're teacher might just be some kind of ex-engineer or God knows what so make sure he knows your name. Or he might be some ornery former Marine who has an obsession with Mustangs like mine was.

Question 4:
Dude, Initial D is the shiz. It's a freakin' comic book. It's a manga. It's not real. Events may be fantastical at times. But it's still cool. Everyone got their inspiration from somewhere. No one says, "Hmm, I think I like S13's now, for no reason." Some people see a guy who is new to drifting and assume you're gonna' act like a know it all because you read Initial D. But don't worry, Drifting.com is here to make sure j00 607 m4d skillz.

That last thing:
Rock the 86 hard. Know it back to front. Make it your own and take pride. If you see something else you happen to like, go for it.

86 if properly tuned is drift god. I know a guy who drifts beautifully. If you like it get it. I want it but I want e36 more. If they ridicule you then learn to drift and murder them on track.
