Relationship Between 240sx's and S12/13/14/15
How do you determine whether a 240sx is a an S12/13/14/15? Or are they even in relation? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but I've tried looking into it and wikipedia only has s13 and 14 and it doesn't really explain it well and I don't know where else to look besides you guys.

The 240SX is the USDM name for the S-Chassis cars.
The S12 was never sold in the US as a 240SX, it was called the 200SX (which later became the Sentra): ![]() ![]() The First Generation (89-94) 240SX Came in two forms in the US, The Hatchback (180SX in Japan): ![]() and The Coupe (S13 in Japan): USDM got the 180SX front end with pop-up headlights due to US laws about headlight height . . . ![]() Those were replaced by The Second Generation (95-98) 240 SX (S14 in Japan): ![]() The S15 never made it stateside and was only produced for a couple years. In the 2007 Formula D season, both Dai Yoshihara and Tyler McQuarrie drove S15 Silvia's (until McQuarrie switched to the GT2 Porsche). Another famous S15 is the Mona Lisa car that gets trashed in the beginning of FF3: Tokyo Drift. ![]() Clear as mud? Last edited by Soldat; 04-09-2008 at 04:42 PM. |

K, thanks for clearing that up.
One question though. So Japan had two different names for the coupe (s13) and hatchback (180sx) first generation? Seems kinda weird to me. |

Subaru is a Master at this. All of their cars, the Forester, the Legacy, the Impreza, the Tribeca, the Outback . . . all sit on variations of just a couple different chassis'. |

I see. So is there any difference in performace between the 180sx and the s13 coupe? or are they pretty much exactly the same just different names and coupe/hatchback?

Also, on enjukuracing.com they sell aero kits and on the description it says it fits the s13 hatch. Does not fit the s13 coupe. So are you sure it's known as the 180sx not s13 hatch or do some people just refer to it as the s13 hatch?

K. Seems easier to remember/say than 180sx when referring to s13's.
