Finally Got A Car! But, It's A FWD. <=,~(

I finally got a car on a $500 budget. I know I can't drift it though. guess I have to learn how to powerslide alot, or until I get a RWD car. It's a 1989 Volkswagan Golf GL 5 speed manual. I know little to nothing about this car. It woll be on the road as of 5-29-09. I want to put an 89' GTi engine in it, but I don't know anywhere to find one cheap. I mught be able to get one from my job with my discount, but I'm not sure what kind of engine I should put in it. I though about fbbing it to a RWD, but I could just get another car with the money I'd spend on it. It's looking like I'm gonna make it a show car. I know you can't truly drift in a FWD car, but we are in a ressesion and I needed a car ASAP. Anyone have any suggestions on an engine swap so I can make the car at least do a nice powerslide? Also, I'm looking for some rims for it. I'm not getting anything bigger that 17's for it. I'm open to constructive suggestions.

I might try and keep this v-dub though. after reading the drift vs. grip post, the car is starting to grow on me. I don't know. If the car becomes too much to maintain, I might sell it. At least it's something iI can powerslide in.
