where to start

so i have an rx8 with after market shock and a cobb tune.
I feel like i have a decent understanding of setting the car up and understand that learning the driving is most important.

where do i start?
im from the san diego area and go to school up north in san luis obispo so i go back and forth regularly.
where do i go to get instruction?
practice days?
and how do i find low level regional competitions to enter and try to work my way up?

any advice is very much appreciated i just want to learn everything i can about it to hopefully work my way up
