Need help in making up my mind

Ok here'e the situation. I recently sold most of my cars, including my Z. Just wanted to clear up some room, etc... However this leaves me with a pretty good amount of money, so the question is....

What would you buy/do to 1 car for 30k?

Also question #2 is i have about 15k in Best Buy stock that i made while I worked there. So i could sell that and technically have 45k to spend.

For eveyone that has the "newbie with big hopes" attitude, thats understandable, but I would like some real ideas and what everyone would do, and i dont mind constructive critisim. Doesnt have to be strictily a drift car, although it will be going sideways quite a bit.

Any ideas would be great, also once i have made up my mind then pics and story will follow.

Thanks everyone.

dont do anything, learn the car first, go to some events, i know usually when someone says this it seems like the person they say it to doesn't listen and does something, but i would invest some of that money in other stocks and learn how the car handles at some local track events, then mod it moderatly

i say do something sick like take a 300zx and put an sr20 in it, lighten it the hell up and get it sideways. that would be tight. with that muhc money do something original, dont just dump it into a 240 thats so played out. or buy an old nsx and swap sometype of engine into the front and drift it, or take a fwd car like an rsx and make it rwd. g35 with a 1jz in it, rwd wrx or evo, something fresh and new bro. DO IT

You should buy a 1995 ford escort 2DR hatchback, convert it to rwd and put a sr20 in it. You should look into something differnt, like wayne said. Maybe an older mazda 929(i think there rwd) or an M3, theyre isnt that many of those get sideways...well that Ive seen anyway. By the way, if you take out that 15k of stock you will lose alot of it because you are not retired, so it will be more like 10.

Want to be different?

'77 Cadillac Coupe DeVille...old school rwd drift whip/pimp mobile.

Why? Because I had one. =P

You can get one in good condition for less than 5K. I paid 3K for mine, all original, perfect condition, only 65k miles...and 7 liters of rubber burning power.

There needs to be more luxury cars out on the drift scene...

I would like to see:

Lexus GS, SC(new model) IS(new model)

Toyota MR2's, RWD Solara conversion, Tacoma X-Runner

Infiniti G35 sedan's, M series sedans...

Acura/Honda NSX, Civic/Accord/Integra/RSX/TSX/TL RWD conversions

Anything Audi

Anything BMW

Buick GNX/Regal

Cadillac STS, XLR

Chevy Silverado, RWD monte carlo/malibu/impala, z06 or lingenfelter Vette, RWD cobalt

Saab RWD conversions...

Chrysler 300c, Crossfire, RWD PT Cruiser would kick as5...

Dodge Magnum, Dakota, Ram

Hyundai Tiburon RWD conversion

Ford Fusion/Lincoln Zephyr RWD conversion

Ford five Hundred RWD conversion

Mercedes E/C class

Mitsubishi Eclipse RWD conversion (I really want to see one of these, especially on the new model)

Pontiac G6 RWD conversion

Anything Porsche

Saturn Ion Redline RWD conversion

Scion tC RWD conversion

Subaru Legacy

VW GTI, Phaeton RWD conversion

Volvo 40/60 series RWD conversion

I had all those written down as things I would like to see, so why not copy/paste them all...Do whatever you want to them, as long as they're getting sideways, thats all that matters.

You guys have some crazy ideas, and Kptrk06 has the longest list ive ever seen

But to answer some posts, i already sold my Z, I loved that car but wanted to consolidate and I sold it for the same that i paid for it, after i put 11k miles on it.

Also I sold my BB stock already as well, i got 14 and change after the gov. that their part.

But keep in mind this isnt just a track/drift car. I will be taking it on road trips, driving it alot. Not daily, but putting alot of miles on it. So far the top ideas i like are...

In no order

1: 99-02 vette
2: 95-99 viper
3: FD w/ tri rotor
4: GMC Syclone / Typhoon
5: 05 Saleen
6: bid down payment on 06 Z06 -- doubt ill do this, but that car is bad!!
7: early 90's prosche 930 turbo
8: Audi S4
9: NSX
10: 06 STI

I like all these ideas, im just so freaking indecisive (spelling) when it comes to this. I DONT want to do any RWD conversions, etc.. more headache than i want to deal with currently. I like being different, but i like instant gratification as well.

Thanks again to everyone for all your input, And keep it coming. Ill decide something soon im hope.

just buy a s14, put a rb26 in it, get it mounted far back, and get cage and suspesion.
thats like 20k
invest the other 25 into something worth while.

i agree ...

jeeze i mean take like a S13, SR20 it, nice suspension, some gagues and safety equipment, body kit and paint ... and honest you could prob. get that for like around 15K ... take the other 30K and then invest back into some real estate or the stock market.

yea i am sort of diggin the simple but sweet idea too, although the bel air is different its probably the best way to go, and you can have the most fun i would bet, but if you wanna be awsome, get those caterham replica type cars and have fun with that.

Ive actually been looking at the Caterham's and like the Factory Five AC Cobra replicas. All are nice, and pretty much all my family is like COBRA!!!, i think its funny.

But the reason I dont want to do the s13 w/SR20 etc.. thing is ive had that before. Its nice, and very fun to drive and yes I could save money that direction but its not what i want.
I have plenty of money in other things. I DO own real estate, and i do still put 15% of my checks into 401K and 15% into stocks, which of course the company match's some of that.

However THANKS for looking out for me though, all those things are a must have for anyone serious about not working forever.

But this money is all going towards a car, ive made up my mind that that is what I want to do. Also I am keeping my 68 Charger, my 05 Exterra, and my 04 R1.

gigglesnirt -- I have looked into the older cars, and I will probably do a mid - late 50's car, maybe early 60's. Like the Imperial etc... But that will be after this purchase is done and finished. so probably 2 years or so, but i like the way your ideas go!! Seeing an older taxi drifting would be awesome!

1 more question?
I came across a company about 8 mths ago that did replica Lancia Stratos's, anyone heard of that company? I cant find it to save my life, I think that would be an awesome car to drive around in, Also what about the Pantera? Any first person accounts of that car? some friends of mine told me about it.

tthe thing about the lancia stratos and pantera they are mid engine, but they are very nice someone near here has a pantera that is just beautiful! another insane idea popped in my head, lincoln continental the one way back, not sure exactly what year but with the suicide doors, that or cadillac eldorado, not sure how it would be possible though thats the problem, most likly the entire body would come off and go onto a diff. chassis, also i was looking at some of the older mgb's and such, great little roadsters seems like it could be fun especially one with a v8

i would either A) import S13 Silvia K's, do gloss black, cf hood and trunk, no body kit just home depot lip, deep 15's, coilovers, roll cage, racing seat and harness, bigger turbo, FMIC and all the goodies; or B) LS400 and do Celsior badges, WALD body kit, chrome 19's, black paint w/ limo tint, coilovers, and then take a 2JZGTTE w/ 6 speed and build it then drop it in...700 rwhp VIP drift car, with full interior and subs and crap

thats my opinion

ariel is cool ... can you get that stateside?

anyway, i like the idea of an older Z car. maybe like a early '70's 240Z and then drop the RB25 into it with a single snail setup ... a la devil Z ..... that would rock, just for a pure wangan monster!

yes the ariel is very nice, i tihnk they now have a dealer somewhere eastern US but not sure very fast car but the only problem is making it legal in the states, i've heard things like calling it a kit car will make it possible but seems a little hard to believe, plus that thing would be a *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored* to drift it seems.

Yeah they have a dealer stateside, and im not sure how its registured? come to think of it I dont think he has plates on his....would have to ask.

But pretty much what ive decided is I want to do an "old school" Japenese car. Like that older post with all the 70's cars. The more i look at those the more i like them. But I would put a 1JZ, or RB25/26, etc... in whatever I do, if i go that route.

an older Z would be sweet. silver with a black hood, carbon perhaps. some black wantanabes with a chrome lip. A big front lip and some sweet fender flares. Some suspension might be kinda hard to get, but the only question is what to use for an engine. i was reading in sport compact car a while back about Coleman wanting to put a Toyota BEAMS engine in it. It has good power plus you can mount it far enough back to put X braces on it.

Yeah this is definatly the way I want to go. so here's the new list.

1: 72ish 240z
2: 1st or 2nd Gen RX-7
3: MK-1,2 Supra
4: Z-31 - mid 80's
5: Older Cressida, etc...

I really like the "Yankee Style" cars from the pictures ive seen. just something you never see, especially where i live and i like them alot. Also wondering what the chances are of getting an older Laurel or something like that into the states? Dont even know if thats ever been done. I have seen a mid 70's Skyline before. But thats it.

Keep in mind that the drivetrain in all these cars will be newer, and turbo!!
