Welded diff

Where did you weld and what were your results? This car is not driven on the street so i am considering doing this. I have an s rear i assume, it has 8 bolts holding the 3rd member to the axle tube and no sway bar and drum brakes.

Umm.. good luck finding a levin in the states for sale. also.. if you want it RHD i think they were just GT not GTS.. GTS was the US model I think.. and GTV was the Japanese version of the GTS (although it had a few things different.. like redtop engine.. etc)

Dunno if this is all correct.. but I think it is.

Some people jam nuts and bolts into the diff centre before welding it up. I suspect that some one my weld dislogged and landed into the pinion/crown, ripping teeth off. Problem is weld doesnt like to stick to oily gears. Need to burn the oil off with an oxy or grind the surface back a little for a good weld.

All Model Corolla Differential Spools
I'm a newbie but have I got something for you corolla drifters.

Chromoly Mini spools for 6.38" ring gear "S" third members.
$65.00 each

O.K. "what's a mini spool?", you ask. A mini spool replaces the spider gears and side gears in the differential. It is then pinned and locks the axles. Save about 2lbs. of rotating and un-sprung weight, (reducing rotating and unsprung weight are good things). It doesn't have clutches that wear out and need adjustment. Your tires will scrub in normal street driving but how many of us drifters are normal?

Chromoly or aluminum full spools for 6.38" ring gear "S" third members or 6.75" ring gear "T" third members
Chromoly full spool $195.00
Aluminum full spool $225.00

O.K. "Now what's a full spool?", you ask. A full spool replaces the carrier, which the ring gear mounts to, in the differential. It also locks the axles. But the full spool saves about 5lbs. of rotating and un-sprung weight, (remember those are good things). It also doesn't have clutches that wear out and need adjustment. And yes your tires will scrub in normal street driving but again it's about the drift, right.

Installation and complete third members availible.
