only, i was too much of an idiot to realize that you have to be going at a pretty decent speed to do braking drift. i wasnt going fast enough to initiate... but i was going fast enough where i couldnt brake enough to make the corner. i panicked and locked the front brakes - understeering and drove right over the curb.

i drove home with MASSIVE toe out on my drivers side front wheel and ended up having to replace my tie rod, lower control arm, and traction rod brackets.

      i'm awesome! don't do that!

scariest - drifting behind my rfriends supercharged mr2 when he got sideways and almost hit a pole. he slammed on his brakes making me almost hit him......it was funny though....i wasnt the only one laughing at him.

embarassing - understeering up on to a curb knocking my exhaust apart at the flange where the cat meets the rest of the rear piping. my car ended up being louder then everyone elses at the event that day. good ish!

scariest and most embarressing in one shot:
day 2 or 3 of owning the miata, i completely forgot i didnt drive FWD anymore, so I launched into a hard left corner pretty fast in the rain and i slid out. i tried to correct it, but only ended up swinging back and pulling a 360 into the middle of the road. there were a lot of cars around. everyone must have thought i was a dumbass or something.
                boy, was my face red.

Alright, Im in my miata last weekend, I'm rolling down lincoln Blvd. in santa monica, it's like 7am and I got a girlin the car after driving all night from San Fran. I am at a red light I ran it up to 7 grand in first, turned the wheel a little and I was gonna do a couple pops but there was a little h20 on the ground so I was at like a 70 degree angle heading straight for a curb so I countersteered hard and now im in third sliding backwards and then all of a sudden I am going in the other direction, she thought it was fun, but I did a little worrying.

                      Embarassing but funny,

I was at a drift day, and my friends brings his 8 yr old nephew. I gave hime a ride along, we were going great around this left sweeper that transitioned to a sharp right. Well going into the right , I spun and he yells out, "SWEET..........FREESTYLE!!!" lol

I can't say that I have had any real bad drifting experiences. All that comes to mind are a could stupid times I wasn't really paying much attention and swinging my rear end in the ditch.

Although...I am starting to get pissed off at myself. I'm not feeling real great about my drifting as of now. I work too much and find very little time to drift and have fun. It seems to be showing in my ability and personal confidence. I'm really going to have to start working in some long sessions here and there...and some higher speed grip stuff. I've pushed my car so little lately, I'm fogetting how it feels. The car's limits are getting more vague. The results aren't good. I drift a small handful of corners(5, one connected by short straight) on my way home from work almost every day(gravel back roads near my house), and I feel worse off than say a year ago. I don't think it helps I'm half asleep coming home from a full day's work either

Winter's coming, so I'm hoping that helps me out a bit. I know I really get in tune with my cars after a fun filled winter, just missed this with my Subbie when I got it in Feb. It helps work the fine motor controls and provides almost continuous, if desired, drifting time.

my most emberassing moment was (for all you oki drifters) at inogei(i have no idea how to spell it and im not sure if thats the name, anyhow the drift spot near camp courtney) i was coming back up the hill from about 5 of the sweetest runs ever, and the guy in a r32 in front of me parked in the middle of the turn so i was quite pissed when he finnally moved, so i floored it up the hill and i wasn't even thinking(still pissed at the guy) and understeered for about 30 feet and stopped literally not more the an inch from the cement wall, needless to say i called it a night
other than that im actually a better drifter than a driver, i've been in 3 wrecks but all of them were when i was just driving from a to b not even in a hurry! weird...

Wow, there are a lot of kids on this site who REALLY shouldn't be drifting.

My most embarassing moment? Not knowing the track layout at VegasDrift in October and autocrossing the entire track. Luckily I recovered after that.

I don't do any street drifting, and especially not in residential areas. Some of you need to learn where it's ok and where it's not ok. Also... word to the wise: rain makes things more slick. Drive accordingly.

                                most embarrassing moment for me:
2 weeks into having my car
i had three mates in the car and i was entering burswood casino drive thru, the road was wet from the sprinklers, i attempted power over, got into a drift but straight away gained understeer, i hit the curb looking back from were i came
bent my rear axle and my steelie rim

i learnt my lesson, now i just drive around with my steelies or pursuities as people call them
oh yeah and just after my car stopped the police drove by, they didnt see it happen though, they just saw this car facing the wrong way
