  • Classic Cars for Drifting?

I was thinking of what cars from the past would make good drifters? A powerful rear driver, or one that can be made powerful should be ok. Something like a 280ZX Turbo or V8 Pacer could be interesting. What other classic rides can you think of?

    280ZX

    Pacer

Well, everyone knows about the AE86 Corolla, or the Japanese Trueno, which is the same thing. But the 200sx s14 is also a very good one that I think you could use.

1972 Chevy Vega GT like this one

97" wheelbase. Curb weight is about 2,200lbs stock. Tons of aftermarket mods available. Might me a little front heavy with a V8, but i'm not sure where it places with the front strut tower line.

      OR.....

1976 Toyota Celica Liftback 2000 GT like this one

94.75" wheelbase and about 2,500lbs curbweight.

Ignoring you recommending the most popular drift cars on the planet...

S14 is not a classic car. S13 isn't even a classic car. 25 years to classify.

I have a first gen rx7 race car, I run spec 7 with it, with a little more power it would be a good drifter.
porsche 944 has very good balance but might be expensive, also a porsche 928 lot more power
old BMWs too, any one ever drift an old 6 series?

A 63 impala 4-door hardtop makes an excellent drift car.

There used to be a circuit city in Santa Rosa ca they might have some security cam footage of my old car in action.

Old rotary Mazdas are good because they are light and the power build ups, like a turbo 13B are immense. Old BMWs are rear drive, but the tail might be difficult to control because their suspension design allowed a large degree of camber change.
