  • Prodrift Academy Cup - Talent Search

Prodrift Ireland has always maintained a strong emphasis on grass roots access to drifting; now they've gone one step further - The Prodrift Academy Cup.
The Prodrift Academy is often the first point of contact between budding competitors and the Irish National Drifting Series. The Academy contains a fleet of 4 fully prepared drift cars set up in a professional team environment that travels throughout Ireland. Participants in the Prodrift Academy learn the basic drifting skills from seasoned Prodrift pro's such as James Deane (Irl & EU Champion), Dean Kearney (Irl Runner up 08), Peter Nielsen (PD EU Driver) and Alan Lenihan (Team Hankook Leading Driver).

Starting with immediate effect, Prodrift have introduced The Prodrift Academy Cup. This is a novice competition that will uncover the best grass roots talent in Ireland and offer three participants the ultimate prize of a fully sponsored day competing in an official Prodrift Ireland Event, each driving one of the Prodrift Academy Nissans, and operating under the full conditions of a professional team.

During 2009, each academy session will end with students being judged on a number of laps of the course. The top 3 students will subsequently be invited to a Prodrift Academy Final where they will battle against the winners of all other Academy Heats. At the Academy Cup Final, the official Prodrift Judges will select a Winner, Runner Up & Third Place who will go forward to compete as part of an official Prodrift Ireland Championship Event and enjoy practice, qualifying, Top16 and Pro Calss graduation possibilities.

During the course of 2009, Prodrift will introduce a variety of promotional opportunities for the Academy Cup winners and finalists to include media appearances, prizes, and more. Each winner will be granted a VIP day out at the Official Prodrift Competition for 5 of his/her family & friends guaranteeing an unforgettable experience.

Commenting on the new intiative, Prodrift Marketing Manager Karl O'Sullivan said "This new Academy Cup is a fantastic opportunity for 3 talented drivers to deliver on the professional stage. Throughout 2008 we have witnessed incredible skills from participants as young as 15 years old. We are all very excited to see how this competition unfolds and who will emerge as Irelands brightest drifting talent".

For the duration of the Academy Cup, Prodrift will primarily be using social networking site BEBO as a means of communicating updates, images, heat results and announcements. For further information on registering for this competition please call the Prodrift headquarters on +353(0)2241924, email at academy@prodriftseries.com or join up to the BEBO page.
