  • FD Pro drivers and Teams Get their Invitations to The 2009 Media/Marketing Summit

Invitations to Formula Drift Pro teams and drivers to attend the 2009 Media/Marketing Summit went out via email Monday night. The Pros have six days to register on a first come, first serve basis before invitations are sent out to about 100 qualified ProAm teams and drivers next Monday, September 7.

The Media/Marketing Summit, presented by CKMedia is a comprehensive two day workshop and summit meeting designed to put Pro and ProAm drift drivers and teams in close contact with a cadre a sports marketing and media specialists and professionals to assist the drifters in upping their game as regards their interfacing with media and sponsors.

There has never been a conclave quite like this, for any form of motorsport, and the program has been been specifically designed to address areas where drifters are lacking in their media outreach and sponsorship searches.

The drifters will work in small groups with the professionals, participate in interactive forums, and drivers will receive specific training in interviewing techniques and dealing with media at all levels from local newspapers, to network radio and television.

The two day summit will take place in Orange County, CA the Monday and Tuesday following the Irwindale Formula Drift finale. The Summit is limited to just 60 attendees and will be held at a hotel in central Orange County (TBA) so it will be close to the site of Formula Drift's annual Banquet, which is held the night before the opening of The Media/Marketing Summit.

Pro drivers and teams who wish to attend are urged to respond to the invitations as soon as possible. Invitations to approximately 100 ProAm and Drift Mania (Canada) drivers and teams will be emailed Monday, September 7. Registration for the Summit will close as soon as 60 valid registrations are received, or by Friday, September 25, whichever comes first.

A limited number of "scholarships" offered by a number of sponsors, may be available to offset up to half the the $400 fee for the two day summit. Driver and teams can learn if they are eligible to receive scholarship assistance by responding to the invitation they received Monday.

How about teams that are coming up for 2009? I have not been part of a team since 2007 but now am starting a new team for 2009 with a confirmed currently licensed and competing driver.

Is there an email where I can contact to get more information? Thank you.

Yukio, contact me directly at gary.w.keith@gmail.com. If you have a currently registered driver, he should have received an invitation. If he hasn't, then I need to get him one. The invitation will make it possible for the driver and one team rep to register. But contact me right away.
