Has anyone else broken this?

I managed to break the latch for the gas door on my s13. It seems like the part that comes out of the body has gone back inside and I can't find it. I did find some interesting things while feeling inside my fender looking for the piece, there was a tennis ball and an unopened pack of Marlboros and I don't smoke each covered in grime. Anyway, has anyone else done this and how did you fix it, cause I hate my door flying open while driving. Thanks.

ive seen it on cars driving around. i dont know what to tell you on how to fix it. but i do see a lot of s13 with mismatched gas door covers on straight cars. take it apart and look at how i works.

Velcro might help it stay shut.

I was thinking about trying velcro until I can fix it right. The Marlboros are vintage man, with some water damage, make an offer.

Thumbs up

Small magnets are cheap, effective and can be attached with epoxy.
Available at Radio Shack, can be cut with a razorblade. Keep in mind that magnets have polarity issues, installed backwards would force door to remain open.
