go to a local tire shop and jack some tires from the storage...thats always free lol...start off with new springs...unless u have money for coilovers..get some sway bars to prevent body roll..and like many people have said...the most important element is the driver

Weight Balance
Suspension Balance
Drifting Tires
LSD / Posi
Interior stuff (seat and wheel)

Free stuff ... hmm weld the gears of your stock rearend and it will act like a LSD but probably break within 6 months to a year. Drift tires are usually free because they are other peoples rubbish. Other free stuff ... hmmm cut springs. Thats about all I can think of thats free.

The best free thing I can think of is knowledge. Your car should be your best friend. Get to know it.

Here's the stuff I have going in the spring (its all sitting
in the basement - except the coils, they should arrive soon):

- Bushings upgrade
- Front/Rear Swaybars
- Coilovers
- Volk wheels (ok they really don't matter but they're VOLK!)

Already installed:
- B&M Shifter

Still need:
- Z32 brake upgrades

I have a Canadian car so VLSD is already there.

Not much more I can think of other then other chasis stiffening
components such as ladder bars and all that fancy sh*t that I
will most likely not get. :|

In summary:
- LSD (if you don't have it already)
- Suspension
- Brake
- Engine

When i say free i mean like mods i can do at home, and i kno shitty tires are terrible for drifting remeber drifting is about loosing grip around the turns and then regaining it after the drift is over i dont want to be sliding all over the place cuz of no grip

It's going to be hard for you to jump from stock suspension to a full coilover system. So forget that until you can use a spring/shock setup.

actually

The point of low grip, crap, tires is to be able to drift easily and learn to regain grip. You should also be doing low grip tires in the rear. Having low grip tires in the front is just plain stupid.

"If you can complete drifts say, 1 out of every 3 times, you're ready to move on to high grip, fancy tires."

or atleast wrecking your car and causing humongously huge big bad problems.

FREE MODS

Well Here is what i would do:

Gut out the cats(remember dosent pass smog)5-15hp
Stripping the interior.100-700 weight savings
Loosing weight(jenny craig)1-100lbs weight savings
(loosing weight improves hp\weight ratio..=)
what you think..

drift set-up

the vital drift set-up: all suspension parts (coil-overs, toe linkage, arms..etc), LSD (2 way recommended..especially for beginners), full exhaust, grip tires in the front; bad traction tires rear, manual transmission, boss kit and boss kit spacers (needed), and a good clutch. double and triple clutch crap not needed...trust me!! Thats basically it....

A traction tires in the front and bad in the rear. Let me explain this again. this aint coketray drifting. you need to be able to regain traction on all four corners at all times. you are building a grip car and overpowering the traction in the rear.

This is not a flame this is correct info.

two way LSD makes car hard to break traction. NOT recommended for beginners. TWO way also makes car more unstable, more prone to oversteer and spinout under braking.

Steering boss + spacer not needed. Spend money on good holding seat.

First of all, a 2 way is recommended because both wheels are spinning at the same speed rather under heavy acceleration or not. Its not hard to break in. If you have a new LSD, do figure 8s in a parking lot, drive around on it. Thats the only way you will break it in properly. Thats any LSD...
Boss kit is basically the kits you use to replace factory steering wheel hubs. The spacer is needed because you want to drift haveing full control of your car. You cant do that laid back like Snoop doggy dogg. You need the steering wheel closer to you. Plus you need knee clearance for clutch and braking abilities. Its not for a seat.

2 way- locked all times (on and off acceleration)
1.5 way- locked under some acceleration plus heavy acceleration
1 way- locked only when giving gas

Drifting is all about oversteering buddy. Thats the whole purpose isn't it?? Oversteer, then counter steer under acceleration. LSDs help you to drift effectively at a much faster speed. You can drift with a stock viscous diff, but they usually don't work effectively. One wheel will turn faster than the other. How will you get good drifting that way???
