Check engine light/ ECU help

OMG! I am having so many problems with my motor!
I blew my old SOHC KA24 so, I swapped in a used KA24 myself, it was my first time ever swapping a Nissan motor. So long story short, the motor runs, moves, and sounds fine when not at an idle. Thats the problem. My idle and red line are hella fuked up I was told to check why the engine light is on by checking the ECU but, I don't know how to do this on my 90' 240sx hatch. Help me plz!

did you swap the the engine without changing the ECU?

I'd check your Throttle position sensor.

if its a SOHC it should work fine but just wondering why did you opt for the soch instead of DOHC I can assume u didnt have the money to fork over for the sr20.dont blame you. I have a friend with a turbo 97 KA and he pushes about 400 HP. mean little 240. but your ecu should work fine, just take it to auto zone and make them hook up that computer to tell you whats wrong.
