Your car has both some good points and bad ones.
The biggest plus you have is your engine. The 2.8L 5M-GE is powerful for the time (I think it gets something like 160-170bhp) and is super reliable. Keep in mind it's a 25 year old vehicle, but I've owned toyotas that old completely original and they ran like a drum. The problem your gonna run into is the chassis. There's nothing wrong with it stock, but it's far from easy to do a lot of upgrades to it. Not only is it not an overly popular car to mod, It's suspension is kind of strange and difficult to work with. What's strange about it (at least from what I've seen others deal with) is that any significant amount of lowering requires some fabrication work. I'm not sure of the specifics, but it supposedly has something to do with how the wheels kick out. Some good places to get some info are: http://www.supraforums.com/ http://www.supramania.com/forums/index.php You might be able to get yourself some sources for performance parts and get more info on what the vehicle's capable of. Keep in mind that you have the same engine that was used in the Cressida and the Crown. Meaning there are plenty of stock engine parts to be had if you look around. Also take a look at your local junk yards if you ever need anything. |
