SR20DET Swap DVD

http://store.driftingshop.com/sh180sswandm.html

By Skinnee Pant Productions

The donor; A 1990 Nissan 240sx.
The surgery; A full 180sx JDM conversion.
The surgeon; A 20 year old university student
with no mechanical experience, and no power tools.
The conflict; One tight *Censored**Censored**Censored* budget with very little room to breathe.
The objective; Creating an authentic JDM turbocharged monster on a fixed budget, while still staying in school.

http://store.driftingshop.com/sh180sswandm.html

Put aside the articles you've read and the internet research you've done, because this is the only DVD on the market to give you a visual reference on how to create a drift car. The first installment of many to come, this DVD describes and outlines the steps involved with creating an amateur Drifting class 180sx from a 1990 USDM 240sx platform. Join Michael Kent as he outlines every step of this conversion, from Skyline brakes to an SR20DET engine swap. Unlike other instructional videos, Kent documents every ! step of the way, and addresses and solves every problem. From beginner to professional, this video shows how to properly install all of the necessary parts to factory specifications and torque specs; probobly the most crucial part of any drifting car build up. If it doesn't work on the track, then it won't survive the streets; and that is the purpose of this video. To make a street style drifting machine suitable for any abuse it may take! Prepare your self to shift your mind, shift your attitude, but most of all, shift your 240 into a 180!

I received a copy and i must say its very good. He basicly walks threw the process step by step. Anyone looking to do a S13 engine transplant who hasnt done one before or any one whos interested in JDM type hardware i highly sugest you check this out. Deffenately worth the money for information, but way way worth it if you are planning a motor swap.

Also he uses the Rota Slipstream 16 inches and fits them over skyline/Z brakes and shows whats required to make them fit. Which was excellent because those are the wheels i wanted.

A copy was given to me personally. However i would gladly pay for one and believe it worth the price. And there not just paying me to say that... because well they dont pay me.

Someone send me the BitTorrent link for this...

Ok. I'm going to buy one. I'm just kidding...

This actually sounds like a good learning experience even if you have never worked on cars before... (like me)

Matt.

I've seen the dvd, it's pretty darn good. It helps you with a lot more than just engine swapping. I didn't have a clue how to do brakes before but now i'm pretty confident.

Does anybody know if an sr20 swap is pretty much the same on an S13 as it is on an S14? Or is there major differences?

How similar would those steps be in removing the KA24DE and implanting an SR into a 92 S13?

So the actual swap of the motor only takes 89 min (length of DVD)?

I know some of you guys have done a CA18DET swap. If you have, is that hard to do also? Because I'm very interested in that swap as well.

Matt.

Basically, the S13 SR20 swap is the same into any S13. Red top, blacktop, whatever, and so is the S14 swap. The S14may have differences, because it is technically a different car, but same engine, more or less. And for a few good places to get an engine or frint clip, try jazzproparts.com or flashoptions.com.

i didnt watch it, but it probably wont go as easily as it looked because many things go wrong, such as various sensors...pumps...and other various wiring issues. also, the engines don't usually run great...they may suffer from blow-by...or the turbo may be in a bad condition...coilpacks...maf, etc. there are many things that can go wrong in a swap, and dont believe it's uncommon to have things go wrong with the swap.

Hey guys, I probably should have posted a reply on this thread a long time ago, but I just discovered it was kicking around. I'm the creator of the Shift 180 DVD and I'm the guy installing everything in the video.

I am really glad that so many people have found it to be helpful. I just wanted to introduce myself and let you guys know that if you have any questions for me, you can post them on this forum.

I think an RB swap video is a great idea, and we might get started on one of those shortly. We've got the sequel to Shift 180 coming out in May 2006, and a Supra/Cressida swap video in the works as well.

Take it easy!

Glad you found the DVD helpful. How's your SR running now?

That water line puncture was such a drag. I had exams that week, and I had just racked up nearly $10,000 solely on Credit Cards to fund the project, so I was dead *Censored**Censored**Censored* broke. I was trying to get the car and video done for a show that was happening in Toronto, and I busted that line something like 4 weeks before, so I was pissed. It wasn't that bad to fix, though. Just alot of scrapes and bruises.
A friend of mine did the same thing on his, but instead of yanking out the whole motor, he affixed a 90 degree mini hose on the hard line, fed it up past the valve cover, followed the firewall and then went back down to the turbo. Pretty ingenious for a spur of the moment decision.

Any pics of your car now?
