Need help understanding turbo trim sizes etc.

So yea, I'm basically trying to educate myself as much as humanly possible on turbos and other engine parts,so that I can decide if in the future,I am going to go through with a sr swap'd 240 and whatnot. I have read up on turbos and right now I am at the point of where I dont know EXACTLY how the trim fits in and I kind of know that the a/r of the turbine has to do with it's spool-up characteristics(small a/r quick spool-up,big a/r,longer spool-up)
and I think the trim has to do with how much lb/min it can make??And I have NO idea what lbs/min is anyway... so please help.

Thanks.
