Searched,no luck..350z mods

So yea, I have recently found out that a brand new 350z is quite possible for me to attain by the end of summer. Ive been to the dearlership and have looked at it numerous times, and today am scheduling a test drive.

What can you guys tell me about the 350z that I might not already know?

What mods can be done that dont cost an arm and a leg?

Anyone who sheds some light on this situation, I greatly appreciate you.

I dont want 450hp because of a massive turbo or anything. I would just like around 350 or so, with something response, something I can take out on a long country drive, and really use.

I dont need a drift car, nor neccessarily a drag car. Just something that will make things more fun, but without horrendous turbo lag or anything of that sort.

I dont want a high rpm pulling car, Id like something that pulls hard low to high-mid. 2000-6000rpm.

I was thinking twin turbo? But greddy's kit add 90hp..and that doesnt seem like it is worth the money.

Actually, the Nismo parts don't do all that much. Kinda pathetic, really. Bolt-ons don't do that much for the 350Z engine. In fact, here are dyno-proven numbers:
Factory- 239hp, 237lb-ft
Factory+Nismo exhaust- 243hp, 238lb-ft
Full Nismo modified- 249hp, 242lb-ft.
Nismo prices are as follows:
Intake: $349
Headers: $1269
Exhaust: $1100
Cams: $1600
So you'd pay $4318 for ten more horsepower and 5 more pound-feet. And that's without labor.

Just lighten it and make it handle better. There are tons of carbon fiber body parts out there and there are also tons of suspension bits out there.

That twin turbo system may only "add" 90 horse power, but ill garuntee you those turbos can push alot more power. However for your description the twin turbo system may be overkill. Look into a supercharger kit, that should give you exactly what your looking for. I know theres a few different ones out there so good luck.

That is good to know that I don't need to waste my money.

If I were to supercharge it, would I need a bigger exhaust?

Are there no single turbo kits for it?Just one turbo powered by all that exhaust?

why would you say that?

Dont they have the same horsepower?

Although Ive read on 350z forums of G35 kills, so who knows.

But I mean arent they the exact same engine?Same hp torque etc?

actually dont believe magazine sponsored numbers..

from stock to headers i was able to go from 237hp-250hp and 230tq-249tq, then added jwt intake and made 255hp and 252tq. the only thing is that you dont get much more than this. we have a guy with just bout every bolt on pushing just under 300whp, ~293whp.

if you are shooting for 350hp, it is attainable with the stillen SC w/intercooler and it comes with warantee...but i hate stillen

i would reccomend the vortech kit for all your needs, some members are pushing 370+whp just alone from this, but with some tuning for the ignition SS box that comes with the kit.

How's your hachi?

The G35 weighs more. The 350Z sounds better and feels more responsive.

Re: Searched,no luck..350z mods

HyperREV Magazine (FAIRLADY Z) No.2 Vol.8 has over 223 pages of content that basically just focuses on 350Z parts that are available in Japan.

This may not help you find cheap parts in the U.S., but it might be a useful reference.

I think the 350z is a little new to have alot of well developed pieces. Yeah, there are a couple, but there will probably be twice as many next year. The 350z is a nice car, I hope you get what you want from it. There probably are quite a few more pieces in japan to, so if you really want them you could get them.

Procharger now makes a supercharger for the 350 if you want to go that route. I saw one setup at the BFGoodrich/Signal area at SEMA in Atlantic City. Looked like a nice clean setup and heard its around 8lbs of boost around the 340-350hp range. I don't remember exactly the numbers, but they were pretty good considering it wasnt totally modded out. I don't know if you can get a chance to see the BF/Signal challenge show, but if you do, the guy who built and drifts his 350 with BF is a nice guy and answers a lot of questions.

if that was a solver 350z w/black and polished rims...he blew his motor with the procharger...now he is running a built sr209det setup in his z.

Be prepared to void your warranty and risk actually breaking something. Before you make any reall mods, you always have to consider the consequences. In this case, voiding a 4 year warranty and possibly blowing up your engine. If your ready to pay to play the game, then by all means go for it.But when you void your warranty, everything is coming out of your pocket.

The one I saw was red with near stock looking rims. How much boost was the one your talking about running?? Wonder how the compression ratio was on that. I thought the VQ's were pretty strong engines. Maybe thats why he wasnt running that one that day. =P

the procharger runs 7psi of boost and only has fuel control and no ignition timing *Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored**Censored*.

vq's have ok blocks, but the major issue is the con rods, they are the first to give out. so you gotta be carefule when you boost the 350z. it has 10.3/1 CR.

Also, I forgot that you can buy this:

http://www.performancenissanparts.co...roducts_id=201

It's a twin plate clutch kit from tilton that takes 30 pounds out of the clutch/flywheel assembly. The pedal effort is slightly less than stock, too! Here's a video or two.

http://members.aol.com/performancenismo/tilton.avi

http://members.aol.com/performancenismo/tilton34.avi

You gain around 15-20 horsepower from the weight loss alone. If you put in test pipes and remove the cats, you gain quite a bit of horsepower as well. One of my friends recently put it on his twin turbo Z and says the turbos have to catch up to the engine and that driving in traffic isn't bad.

Thanks for the info Daytona350z. I wont be worrying about that since I don't own a 350, hehe. I've heard some of the Cobra guys blowing theres too with the Prochargers. Mostly cause they're looking out to get BIG hp without doing any internal work and running high boost numbers without properly tuning anything else.
