battery relocation, how?

How exactly do you relocate the battery to the trunk? I have an idea but im just making sure i dont leave anything out next time i try it. And should i put a fuse in the line or no?

buy a battery relocation kit from summit racing. it will include all wires needed and even a battery box. don't forget to order a battery/electrical cut off switch as well if you plan on making it track legal(at least for drag)

But i dont want to spend money on a kit when i know you can do it in your garage for minimal amounts of money. I just want to make sure i know how to do it cause i know im going to do it.
