engine swap question
Is it possible to swap a wrx (2001-2003) engine with a 2000 impreza RS. Are the engine mounts (DON'T know if I spelled that right) in the right places.

I read an article in Sport Compact Car, where they swapped in the EJ20 from a 2002 WRX into a 1999 Impreza RS. The only part of the swap that caused problems was the wire harness. Apparently the wiring harness for the ECU is integrated into the main wire harness. The engine and tranny bolted right in though.

Time and effort.
The article said that wiring the harness is tricky but not impossible. The shop that did the work just states that it took a while, they didn't get to specific. It shouldn't be to difficult for any decent tuning shop to perform. It might cost you though. The article was in the June 2004 issue of Sport Compact Car if you want to look it up. |
