Rebuilding Coilovers: HKS Hipermax D's
I picked up a used set of Hipermax Drift coilies, and want to rebuild them before I drive on em for any length of time. Anyone know what the rebuild entails? Im sure Id have to send them out, but what about costs/downtime/etc.
Not just HKS's, any coilovers. Thanks in advance. |

Well, you'd have to ship 'em out, pay about $150-300 each to have them rebuilt, then have them shipped back. The rebuild entails installing new seals, new o-rings, and changing the shock fluid. Then the dampers would be dyno-tested to ensure their freshness, then sent back. Downtime? Anywhere from a week to a month, depending on shipping and quickness of the rebuild.
Here's hoping you got a good deal on those coilovers. |

does HKS have a rebuild facility stateside? I know even Apexi doesn't and a local buddy of mine has been waiting for over 6 months for Apexi to rebuild and ship it back cuz it had to be sent to Japan

From what I hear, HKS's coilovers can take a pretty good beating.

That doesn't stop them from needing a rebuild every once in a while.
