Recommendations on SR20DET

I'm seriously about buying an SR20DET. I'm almost done saving up for a S13...

My friends are telling me different things for the SRs...

My buddy is telling me to get the S15 SR20VET. My friends who own a car shop are telling me to get the red top...

For me, I plan on getting the motor installed and that's it.. No more modifications to it... If anything, it's just going to be intake, exhaust and other small tweaks. I'm not looking for maximum horsepower here. I'm looking for high tech engine and reliability... I'm going to Japan this winter so finding one or buying one won't be too difficult. I love Tokoyo Auto Salon

Matt.

The s13 black top or red are good choices, red's will be cheaper just because they're generally older with more mileage but essentially the same. If you plan on keeping the motor a while, you may want to do the timing chain job while the motor's out. It'll be alot easier that way and they use the usdm sr20de timing chain kit for the 91 sentra se-r if you're interested.

Red or black top, the sr20 motors are all nice and will provide good hp...205hp/200ft lbs. I would go with a redtop just because of the price difference. The mileage would still be low. It is usually about 35-45k miles. For a drift car, that would definately be a good amount of power!
