it seems like it would have to be a full custom job with a lot of work involved, and would look rather odd.

Why would you want to do that? Turbo with ITB?

I don't get why... You're not going to get more power out of it... Forced Induction takes care of most of the variance for each intake port.

please don't flame me as I am not a big nissan guy but didn't some of the n/a sr20's come with itb's? and I do know that if you go itb with a turbo motor you can change the power band with different length and diameter runners and allow more air flow per port by using a bigger plenum before the throttle plates, as opposed to just a big plenum with one throttle body. it would allow finer tuning of each cyl and more even pressure distribution across the cylinders if designed correctly.

There has never been one in a hyper rev... does that mean they don't exist... no, but good luck finding it if it does. Custom would probably be the route to go. But think about it, the SR20DET has been around for a long time... if it was that great someone would have made it to sell. Then again that kind of customization is some crap idea that doesn't seem to really do all that much for power, longevity, etc in real life as much as it does in theory. I know that ITB's for a while were a huge thing but they fadded away, when that happenes, it is usually for a reason.

I'd love to hear ITBs on a SR20. But I hear them on my 20V all day, so maybe I should turbo it...I've heard that and it's bad @ss.

not to flame but think of it this way if you can find itb's for a sr already made by a manufacter good luck in my opinion i would just get a aftermarket turbo it would be cheaper and you more than likley would get more power out of a turbo than itb's. But hey if you want to go for it go for it. besides it would be preety cool, but i would go turbo. just my 2 cents

Test car£º PS13(SR20DE)
Camshaft£º Duration:280, Lift:12.5
4throttle£º ©ª45
Compression£º 12

We are developing special 4throttle system including surge tank for turbo model. It will bring extreme response and performance to the engine and enables you to drive much faster in the track, smoother in drift run, and giving nicer exhaust note. We are testing various forms of serge tank with flow bench tester to get the best result now. Please wait few more moment for the extreme 4throttle system from TOMEI.

My question. What good would it do?

How much power are you trying to pull?

Matt.

Actually, one of the SR20's came with the ITB's from the factory. It was a redtop SR20DET, which was an RNN14 Pulsar/Sunny GTiR's (available everywhere outside the US; it's a compact car with 50:50 4x4 system and has a monstrous hood scoop - seee photo) powerplant. It has a system that uses a cover for the throttles, which is connected to an air filter to increase the reliability of the engine. The idea was the same as one the Tomei's website.

I'm pretty sure that Horinzer makes six-throttle systems for the S15 SR20. I'm not sure if they make it for the S14's blacktop or S13's redtop.

Please take note: some of the parts from S13 will NOT fit into an RNN14, so don't think that maintaining the engine will be easy. You'd have to import parts from either Japan or UK to make it going.

Ikeya Formual makes ITBs for tubo SRs. I dunno where to go get them. Im sure Sam at Jspec.com could get them for you, but i don't know if it would be worht the hassle. Only one way to find out.

ITBs in any car will increase response and more effeciently use the intake air, thus resulting in a more performance-oriented engine. But they cost a grip. So, if you can pay it, im sure Sam can find it.
