Unhappy jdm folding mirrors

is there some special way that 180sx jdm mirrors are supposed to fit? i have a 93 240sx coupe and tried to put them on but they don't seem to fit right. cause the stock mirrors that i have right now fit into a pocket seal of some sort towards the top and when i tried to stick the jdm ones in it was like longer and ripped the seal... anyone have a clue on this? i thought it should be simple bolt on or am i just stupid?

Using mirrors meant for a RHD car in an LHD is a bad idea.
